Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SanDisk ImageMate 12-in-1 USB 2.0 Flash Memory Card Reader SDDR-89-A15Customer Review: Great Product Summary: 5 Stars
This is an external memory device that can be used for all kinds of media. Realize though that this is a card reader, not a replacement for your camera transfer software, although it can certainly be used to move your camera's files. Only 4 slots (different media) types can be used simultaneously, but who needs more than one or two? It is great to just plug in the USB connection and have it work without installing drivers. I originally bought this to read various cards from my digital cameras and audio device. I now bought a 2 gig card and use it to backup critical files from my hard drive. The only thing I don't like about it is that it tends to fall over - maybe the base should be bigger, or maybe I should put it where I won't bump into it! No problems after several years of use, unlike my Dazzle reader which fried within a year or two. This is a good product.
Customer Review: High quality, multi-format, flash card reader Summary: 5 Stars
The product is well made and works great. There are four slots for different types of Flash cards - see the product description for exact details. I purchased this item because it supports the new SDHC flash card used by my camera.
The reader has a yellow power light indicating it is connected to an active USB port. It has 4 green leds; one for each slot indicating data activity on a given card slot. Each slot shows up on explorer as a separate removable drive. The unit comes with software that helps a novice copy files from a newly inserted card on/off it to the PC hard drive.
The unit comes with a stand that allows the reader to be placed vertically on a desktop. It also comes with a 6 inch cord that allows it to be used without the stand and plug into a standard USB Type A port. The unit itself uses a mini-USB port.
Customer Review: Couldn't be easier. Summary: 5 Stars
Couldn't get much easier than this.
Unpacked it, plugged it in and plugged my cards in.
No need to install any software or drivers.
It automatically creates logical drives for you. That is, you'll see new drives (like M. N, O, P). It is a bit annoying trying to figure what drive maps to what cards, but you'll get used to it quickly and it's not like it's a huge annoyance. You can also just go in and rename the drives.
You'll mainly use this to transfer files from cards to your computer (or network), but you can also use this to transfer files from a card to another one.
It takes more space than I would like, so I left this connected to my server and shared all the drives. When I need to access a card on my laptop, I simply access these shared drives.
Customer Review: Excellent. If mine ever breaks I would replace it with the same. Summary: 5 Stars
For the price, this item is an excellent buy. Unlike most readers, it does read all the current common storage cards. It is small and compact for carrying with a laptop, and comes with a short extra USB chord for travel. The longer chord is adequate in length. A good holding stand for the reader is supplied and can travel as well, or use when at your work station. No driver to install, just plug and play..FOR ME..I am strictly Mac.
For Windows, you install the software so you can use the one button fast download button.
Something I do not need, and you do NOT have use of with a Mac computer.
Simpler and much better for me is a small indicator light to let you know that you are connected and good to go.
I am an artist and work the bajeemies out of this reader.
I recommend.
Customer Review: No problem with this handy device. Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this because I couldn't find my Compact Flash card reader and I figured I would get a card reader that would work with other media. Getting it up and running with Windows XP only took a few minutes. It has worked flawlessly with Compact Flash, Memory sticks and SD cards. I haven't tried it with other media.
Each of the four slots on the reader will show up as a "Removable Disk" on your computer. I especially like the fact that there are two ways to plug it into your computer. It comes with a little stand for desktop use (which has its own USB cable) and a short USB cable for more portable use. I use it with my laptop and keep it in the stand.
Now that I have a card reader that can be used with all the popular media, I won't worry about what kind of media my next digital toy uses
