Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SanDisk Digital Photo Viewer (SDV2-A-A30, Retail Package)

Customer Review: SanDisk Digital Photo Viewer
Summary: 3 Stars

Item works good, but the resolution quality is lacking. We get the same quality pictures from a low resolution picture as a high resolution picture. SanDisk's only recommendation was to check the TV setting, which are good.

Customer Review: Wish I could use this item:
Summary: 2 Stars

I bought these for use on wall mounted TV. The power adapted that comes with it is for European Power, and cannot be used with US Power. To be fair, the seller did include an adapter to convert it to US Power, but it makes the transformer stick out twice as far from the wall and will not fit behind my TV on the wall. I have been in contact with SanDisk, who stated that they do not have the power supplies for these any longer, and now I have to try to find a power source for them myself. The second one was to be a gift, and I am not giving it to someone this way. I like Sandisk products, and want to keep these but am not happy about this power situation. It was delivered on time and packaged well, but it was downhill from there.

Customer Review: TOO SLOW< NEED HELP
Summary: 2 Stars

I bought this product, got it plugged in and all was good, so far. However, with about 200-300 pictures on the SD Card, it was taking hours for the photos to load. Then it was only loading 9 thumb nail pics at a time. When those 9 loaded I had to scroll down to the next screen to load the next photos. It is taking way too long to load and not fun at all. No way is this an enjoyable experience to view our family photos on.

please help if you have any suggestions or had this problem at all. Otherwise, the product will be returned and I REALLY WANT TO USE IT!!

Thanks

Customer Review: A bit disappointed
Summary: 2 Stars

This unit seems to be made for EU use, but did come with an adapter for USA electrical outlets. I was disappointed with how limited the menu was, and it was slow to respond to input from the remote. I purchased it for my older parents to view digital photos on their older tv, but it would be too confusing for them to navigate the menu, so I may have to purchase them a tv with a usb input instead. Good concept, just not as user-friendly as I had hoped.

Customer Review: Not ready for prime time
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought the SanDisk Photo Viewer for displaying on a TV, old photos I had stored on a USB key. I intended to do this in a nursing home, and wanted the option to include music. This unit promised operation by remote which would work for a person with limited mobility.

First, after inconsistent operation from the USB, I realized that slide show operation required all pictures be stored on a CompactFlash card in the rear slot (I had to purchase this.) Pictures must be in TV mode (640w x 480h , 72 dpi), all with the same date, 99 or less in a folder, in order to play reliably with music.

Since my files were from multiple sources, I tried to use the device to convert pictures to TV mode per the instructions, and move them from USB to CF card. After destroying one USB key and many frustrating hours of effort later, I instead laboriously converted files on a PC, then transferred them to the CF card, again using a PC.

For the purpose purchased, this device risks pictures, cards (at least USB), and possibly TV speakers (sound output at times failed, locking up and emitting a loud continuous tone.) Remote operation is slow and mushy, and locks up if not used carefully and deliberately. Then the unit must be powered down by pulling the plug and restarted. I now know how to use the device within these very limited constraints but would not recommend its purchase at any price.

Great concept - scary implementation. Needs more on-board memory (to avoid failure and lockup) and more consistent remote operation. Definitely NOT user friendly. Does not perform as advertised.
