Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SanDisk Cruzer Titanium 4 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive SDCZ7-4096-A10

Customer Review: cheap and effective; also strong
Summary: 5 Stars

A few years ago i went to a local grocery store I'm sure we all are familiar with and bought a Sandisk 2GB black plastic flash drive for about $30.00. Recently i bought this and wow is it a deal.
* You get 4Gb of memory
* Has an ultra strong case around the flash drive so it is difficult to break by applying force to it
* Low price a little over half the price i paid for half as much memory
* Has a very useful U3 utility program which utilizes the use of multiple programs that are sure to help you

The only con may be the U3 program as i have heard that you cannot remove it.
Overall a great product with currently no drawbacks If you want memory i recommend the plastic version sold here on amazon.com, but if you want decent memory and durability i recommend this one.
If you want memory i still recommend you pay a little extra and get this version as it will last much longer and pay for itself in the long run

Customer Review: Apple Mac OS X 10.1.2+ --- Erase U3, Reformat, Name --- Good to Go
Summary: 5 Stars

I don't own the 4 GB. I own the 2 GB which identical except for capacity.

My review is for Apple OS X 10.1.2+ users who may want one. SanDisk's website and most sellers, say it is only for Windows. I emailed SanDisk's technical staff. You can use it on OS X 10.1.2+, but you can't use the U3 programs. Incidentally, many PC users neither want nor use U3 either.

You need a PC friend to download the little program from the SanDisk website that deletes U3 on your SanDisk in his USB port. Then, use your Mac's Disk Utility to Erase Free Space, Name and Volume Format in Mac OS Extended (journaled) for full storage capacity. Well worth the effort. The SanDisk is good looking, functional and nearly bulletproof. It's MUCH easier than it sounds. Just go step by step.

I did this and it works beautifully with my iMac G4 running OS X 10.4.11!

If you have a new Intel Mac, you don't even need a PC friend.

Customer Review: Reassurance plus retractibility.
Summary: 5 Stars

I went from a SanDisk 250MB flash drive to a 500MB Titanium to a 1 GB Titanium (missed the 2 GB) to this 4 GB Titanium. Each time the cost has been less and the speed greater. Sure, you can pick up a "generic" 2 GB flash drive from Walgreen's for 20 bucks, but spending a little extra for a SanDisk is worth it if only for peace of mind. Moreover, the Titanium many be larger and have the same storage capacity as Sandisk's less expensive Mini-Cruzer, but its retractable feature saves enough misplaced covers to be worth the premium. For that matter, the added size makes the drive itself harder to miss. And unlike, say, a 60GB Western Digital drive, the Titanium doesn't have a cable with one of those delicate and tiny 1394 pin connectors between the storage device and the computer. It plugs directly into a computer's USB port and, unlike my frustrating WD drive, never fails to appear on my computer's desktop.

Customer Review: Outstanding portable data device
Summary: 5 Stars

The 4GB Cruzer Titanium (U3) is extremely well made and very fast. I was able to backup ~ 900MB of data from my employer's ThinkPad to it in a little over 5 minutes. The USB connector extends and retracts easily, and eliminates any concerns about lost caps. I've also owned a 512MB Cruzer Titanium for 3 years and it has functioned very well, although it is noticeably slower than the 4GB device, no doubt due to the 512MB's USB 1.1 connector.

I purchased the device primarily for use in conjunction with my work and highly recommend it for that purpose.

My one complaint about the 4GB Cruzer Titanium is that the U3 software doesn't yet work with Windows Vista. I contacted Sandisk about this and was told that a Vista compatible version would be available sometime in Q3'07, so hopefully the incompatibility is temporary. Overall, though, this is the best USB device on the market today.

Customer Review: Splurged and got this
Summary: 5 Stars

I had a ton of floppy disks that were just sitting around taking up space so I got this and transferred the files. The space is amazing. It is really fast (meaning even with a 3 1/2" floppy the files jump onto the flash drive quickly).

I gave this drive a name and I was ready to go.

It comes with a clip for a pocket wearer and a loop so you can wear it around your neck.

When you put it in it turns a beautiful royal blue in the area where you slide the usb port out. That light is extremely attractive to toddlers who want to pull out the drive. (You have to use the software to "eject" it. It will let you know when you can pull it out.)

I have saved music, photos, documents and other types of files. I've already put about 250 MB on it and in the properties there is only the thinnest sliver of the pie used.

Thanks for reading.
