Customer Review: U3 Technology and ReadyBoost for Vista with this drive
Summary: 5 Stars

Technology is getting cheaper and yet it can do more and more for you. The Sandisk Cruzer 8gb flashdrive is a great example of what I'm talking about.

Of course you can store files: Word documents, photos, music, etc... on it, but with U3 Technology (look it up online to learn more about what it can do for you...) you can also carry your Outlook contacts and programs with you from one computer to another. Very handy for students and business travelers!

Another great thing that it can do is give your computer's memory a boost. "ReadyBoost" is an option built into Vista that allows you (when activated) to access the Sandisk flashdrive as though it was memory installed into your computer. Sluggish systems are a thing of the past!

To access ReadyBoost (from Windows Help in Vista...):

Plug a flash drive or other removable media device into your computer. This should automatically open AutoPlay.

If AutoPlay does not open, it might have been disabled. For more information, see Troubleshoot AutoPlay problems.

Under General Options, click Speed up my system.

This will display the Properties dialog box for your flash drive or other removable media device.

Click the ReadyBoost tab, and then do one of the following:

To turn ReadyBoost off, click Do not use this device.

To turn ReadyBoost on, click Use this device, and then move the slider to choose how much of the available space on your flash drive you want to reserve for boosting your system speed.

Click OK.

This is one of those 'just gotta have it's' for anyone who uses computers for work or for play!

Customer Review: Cruzer, king of portables
Summary: 5 Stars

Reluctantly bought the product since another USB drive, the Corsair, had more positive and numerous reviews -the problem I saw with the Corsair is it was too bulky. So I decided for the Cruzer. And I am not disappointed at all.

First, the USB plug gets in and out cleanly without getting stuck on the way. No more lost caps.

Second, SECURITY is fantastic. It DOES work. Without a password, that you create when you insert for the first time the USB drive, nobody can access the files in the drive. You will not be able to access it with a file explorer without entering a password first. Ideal if you carry personal and confidential information in it. No worries if you lose it. The only way anybody, the lucky one who finds the drive, can access the drive again is to format it.

Third, PORTABLE applications. There is a new wave of software applications that will run from a USB drive without modifying the settings in the host computer. In Windows is a pain since most of the commercial applications write to the registry. And even more helpful if you have at work a locked computer. The Cruzer comes with a set of applications built in and you can add even more from the U3 website or from [...]. Most of the applications are very well known Open Source. Personally, I love "WinDirStat" (generates a graphic map of your PC drives and folders and tells what files are taking the most of your disk space, ideal for cleanup day), and "KeePass Password Safe" which is a vault for that multitude of passwords so common today.

I was just buying a USB drive with 8GB and ended up getting unexpected extra value. That made me so happy.

Customer Review: Great Flash For The price! Easy Interface!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I read a lot of reviews and was amazed at all the stress people seem to have about the U3 software. If you don't want it you are given the choice to not install it when you first insert it. I only installed the U3 launchpad program. If you desire you can not install anything and just drag files on or off the drive letter assigned to your drive when inserted. I keep programs on a 4G Titanium Sandisk and I've had it forever! I threw it on the ground and stomped on it and nothing happened. I needed more capacity for other files so I bought this one. Seems the plastic casing is tough enough, but I wouldn't step on it. Files are quickly read or written on this drive. The price is very good as well! I found it much easier to keep info on my flash drives to and from work rather then transporting on my laptop or notebook. Instead of laying out big bucks on high capacity Flash drives, just buy more 8G's. You will save money. For large files I use my Ipod's hard drive capacity. I don't like lending that to friends however. If I find a new free app for uninstalling malware or a copy of open office, or free antivirus programs on the internet, I can tell my friends or coworkers" Here try this" and they can borrow it for a couple of days. I always get them back and it saves the work having to type addresses for them and install instructions. Ha Ha So to be succinct, oops to late for that, it's cheap, fast, reliable and easy to install.

Customer Review: SanDisk Cruzer 8 GB Is Worth The Money
Summary: 5 Stars

It is the first time I use the SanDisk product. I was a bit worried when I read so many negative reviews on the U3 software which is installed in it. I personally do not want anything extra on the product I order. I did not try the U3 software. Thus I cannot give any opinion to it. I took the advices from many of the owners of them and removed the U3 software by the program which I downloaded from its website. Even though it was quite easy to do it. I still think that it caused me extra trouble to deal with it. I give the product 5 star because it is a very good product. It is small, easy to use, lots of disk space and the price is right. The light blinks only when it is in action. I don't think that it is a defect. I will give the management of the company a one star rating because they didn't respond to the negative rewiews from their users.
They continously install the U3 in their products and expect the users to remove them instead of giving a choice to the users to download the softwares from its website and install them if they want. Another negative is that you need to use their download program to remove the partition in the flash drive. Using format function in Windows will not finish the job. That is another administration's mistake. It has nothing to do with the quality of the product itself. So a 5 star rating is still granded to the product and one star is given to the management as a whole.

Customer Review: SanDisc Cruze 8GB: A Good Buy. A Critical Review
Summary: 5 Stars

Recently, I was asked to review the latest Roxio cd/dvd burning software, "Creator 2010." There has been a lot, I mean, a lot of concern about the software--functionality and space. My experience with Roxio, on the Mac has also been (of late) very disappointing.

One of the reviewer recommended that instead of installing the software on your computer's hard drive, instead install it on a portable hard drive. He suggested the flash drive I am now holding.

I'm happy to say after several days of use: installing, testing and storage, this portable hard, the SanDisc Cruze is a great buy and a great protection if you want to install software, use it without taking up precious space on the hard drive. I also found that it allows me a certain amount of freedom that I hadn't expected.

I'm testing a pc product on the Mac, but this drive is formatted for both. So, I engaged VMWare Fusion, which is the virtual software nesting a copy of Windows XP and then I plugged this flash drive into the USB. Installation took the better part of 30 minutes and testing was over several hours later with no hassle whatsoever. The caveat being that since it (the cd/dvd burning suite) is on a flash-drive, I can easily plug this into a pc computer and use the software as I please.

Purchase with confidence, it works well for me.
