Sandisk's latest design is pretty slick, but it is bulky.
The 8 GB storage space is great and the transfer speeds are noticeably faster that the older Sandisk products. I did not find opening and closing the device to be all that difficult, but it is easier to open it with two hands. When the USB port is retracted, a little door closes over the end to protect it - a definite improvement over the old designs.
The only thing I don't like about it is its size. It's a lot larger than any of their older designs. If you want to fill up a bunch of USB ports right next to each other, or your USB ports are slightly recessed, I would not recommend this product.

The Sandisk Cruzer Contour 8 GB USB drive solved my problem. I needed a high capacity USB drive, with U3 software for security and synching, with a hardware version and U3 version that would work on Vista OS machines. Other versions of the U3 software that I have on other USB drives, even when updated, did not function on Vista machines. This one does work in Vista machines, and is (subjectively) very fast at reading and writing; I can tell a difference between this one and my many other USB drives. Although I do like the retracting USB connector, I find that I need to be carefully deliberate when retracting it. All in all, an impressive USB drive with the features that I needed.Customer Review: Watch out for sand in your pockets......

SanDisk - great company, great product. 8GB - I use for everything, but bought it particularly for review and editing of home movies, no problem works very well.
As I recall this Cruiser came with some kind of case or holder.... I discarded it, THIS WAS A MISTAKE!. This little device has some very close tolerance mechanical parts that jamb up or at the very least work very hard if you get any grit into them. I still have use of the device, it just work hard most of the time. Knowing this now for me personally, I would choose a simpler device. Still hoping the sand will work its way out......Still Cruising.

I've only had this USB flash drive for about 3 weeks now, but it works great! I did extensive research before I bought the drive and everything I found on it was true. The transfer speeds are at least 3 times that of my old PNY 2GB drive. I've installed several U3 programs with no trouble and uninstalled them with no problem. You do have to be careful when inserting the drive into a USB port a tight place. The drive is pretty big and usually there is no room for anything else to fit beside it in the other USB port. I am very pleased with the access speeds and the preloaded apps work well. The only issue of note is that I use it largely with my laptop and the docking station is elevated leaving the rather substantial weight of the drive unsupported. I bought a USB extension cable and lay it on the desk. Other than that I am very pleased with the entire product.
