Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SanDisk 8 GB Extreme III CF Card SDCFX3-008G-A31 (Retail Package)

Customer Review: Went through washer and dryer, and still readable!
Summary: 5 Stars

Well, I did the unthinkable: Forgot about a card in a jacket pocket and sent it through the wash - a regular wash and dry cycle. It was the very last item I saw while unloading the dryer, and boy, the color drained from my face fast. I was distracted while unpacking from vacation and intended to make back ups immediately, shoving the card in my pocket. Oops. The photos were taken on our way home; I realized that there probably wasn't a lot lost and would not explore data recovery services. Except for some wear to the label, there was nothing physically wrong with the card and I was very curious to know what would happen when I popped this in the card reader.

Imagine my surprise when I threw it in the card reader and it worked! I was able to retrieve all files without problem. (I am not able to rely on this card now, obviously, and have since disposed of it.)

Customer Review: You Can Always Trust a (Real) SanDisk
Summary: 5 Stars

SanDisk makes some of the best flash memory products, and their Extreme series is the top of the line (depending on the era - there were Extreme versions 1-4, and the newest is just called Extreme).
I got this particular CF card in 2007, when they were relatively still expensive (anyone remembers what the Extreme II CF's cost for just 1GB back in like around 2003? The answer = ridiculous!). But back then they were the fastest available, and unless you specifically need the UDMA types for recording video or really fast spurts for sports photography, these cards are more than capable.
The title stated "(Real)" because nowadays there are a few counterfeit SanDisk memory cards out there, so be careful who you're buying from - just stick to Amazon itself and you'll be fine.

Customer Review: SanDisk is the best. Highly reliable for professional or personal use.
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been using SanDisk CF cards for years in my Olympus and Canon digital SLR cameras, and not a single one has failed me in more than 10 years. I started with a 64MB card, then graduated over the years to 128MB, 512MB, 1GB, 2GB, 4GB and finally to the 8GB models as each became available and affordable. They all still work, although I mostly use the 4 and 8GB models now so I don't have to change cards as often.

SanDisk's quality has never let me down, regardless if I've purchased the retail package or the bulk package cards. Reliability like this is what keeps me coming back to SanDisk. I shoot professionally, so I can't afford to lose any shots. To date, not one image has been lost to corruption or card failure. Highly recommended.

Customer Review: super fast
Summary: 5 Stars

I never really appreciated the speed difference between the regular sandisk cards and the extreme cards - until now.

I typically take photos of dancers, either in the studio or performing. In general with the regular cards I'll hit the buffer full and then need to wait up to 30 seconds (or more) to take a second photo on my 5D - and over 60 seconds to fully clear the buffer. Not so with the extreme. While recently photographing a dance event I never once had to wait for the buffer to clear. This was amazing to me. When I switched to a regular card though, bam - suddenly I'm waiting again.

Given how cheap these cards are, the extreme IIIs are very much a no brainer - get it and forget it.

Customer Review: Excellent speed and quality
Summary: 5 Stars

For professional photography this product provides two key elements: peace of mind and time savings. Shooting raw+jpeg, each shot uses up about 20 megabytes. This 8GB card provides enough space for an entire photo shoot. More importantly, it offers the peace of mind that this high quality product has been well tested and the images are safe. While not as fast as the Extreme IV, this card is relatively quick, providing good read times required to offload the contents onto the hard disk. SanDisk support was also very responsive when I ran into a software issue.
