Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SanDisk 2 GB Cruzer Titanium USB Flash Drive (SDCZ7-2048-A10RB)

Customer Review: Good product; annoying bloatware
Summary: 4 Stars

I was looking for a capless flash drive so I wouldn't need to keep track of the cap, and the retractable design of this works well. The hardware functions without problems and is even attractive. The case is real metal -- I know because my magnetic bracelet tried to stick to it! (With no harm to either.)

Only warning is that the pre-loaded U3 software tries to load itself every time the drive is inserted into a computer -- REALLY annoying when you are trying to use the drive the transfer files to a colleague and it tries to load onto their machine! Even when de-activated, the U3 thing claims a drive name for itself. I thought it would be fun to try the U3 functions but I'm ready to erase the whole thing to get it to stop trying to take over.

Customer Review: Does the job
Summary: 4 Stars

Does the job for what it's supposed to do. I got rid of the U3 software within minutes of opening the package. I also have a 1GB Cruzer (the black one) and prefer this one with it's blue light to the orange of the other.

Customer Review: SanDisk 2 GB Cruzer Flash Drive
Summary: 4 Stars

During the few weeks we have been using the flash drive, we have been very happy with how well it works.

Customer Review: Achilles heel keeps it from cruzing
Summary: 3 Stars

I have a Mac, so when I first got the drive, I deleted the U3 software. Honestly, I probably would have done this anyway - it's a clumsy package that's readily replaced by a few folders on the drive. It's a beautifully functional drive that's tough as nails. I accidentally dropped my keys off the roof of a 6 story building, and it survived. I was a satisfied customer, until I lost the drive.

The Cruzer comes with a flimsy, sad excuse for a keyring. I always had it on the back of my mind to replace it, but I never got to the hardware store, and the regular size keyring that most people use doesn't fit in the Cruzer's slot. Thus, it eventually fell off my keys without me knowing, and was gone forever. Along with 1.5 GB of music and a project with over 50 hours invested in it. This product gets docked 2 stars for penny pinching with an inexcusably weak ring and the lousy software. If you don't mind going out and finding an appropriately sized ring and then deleting the U3 software, then it is a perfectly functional drive that I'd probably buy again if the price was right.

Customer Review: There are better choices
Summary: 3 Stars

This drive is Ok, but IMHO there are better choices.

I bought the drive because of the retractable usb port, and that is a nice feature. But, when I bought the drive I was unaware of all the junk they put on it; by junk, I mean "features". Although their software hasn't crashed my system, it is unnecessary, uses up valuable space (you are buying a storage device, right?) and makes backing up/ transferring data unnecessarily complicated.

I also own (several) Kingston flash drives- very simple to use. Myself, I prefer the Kingston. What I am looking for in a flash drive is storage, plain & simple. I don't want it adding another backup program, or games...just storage. That's what I get with the Kingston drives, and I will stick with them from now on.
