Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SanDisk 2 GB Cruzer Titanium ( SDCZ7-2048-A10, Retail Package)Customer Review: Perfect and Hard to Beat !! Summary: 5 Stars
To all looking for a perfect USB drive with Extra features, if you want to and when you want to...
This is the deal... This is my third one, since I keep selling the previous one with less capacity and getting one bigger...
Also, the feel on this one is very sturdy as well... I would say that is a lot better then my previous one, which was the regular black plastic case.
The U3 program, it is a handy (and I shall say MUST) factor.
If you want the program to auto start whenever you plug it in at your USB port (which takes around 5sec.) you just point it out at the installation of the U3 Launchpad, and I bet most of the users having this problem did not try to run and update or at least go to the settings and check this function.
I have most of the programs I use with this USB drive and whenever I travel and need to use any computer, I just plug it in, and have, all my documents and files (as a regular use of a USB drive) and also the advantage of having my own browser with all my favorites and plug-ins (and cookies and passwords functions as it is set at the USB drive, and not at the computer you are using...), and lots of other programs..
There lots of software to anyones interest, Free and paid for... And all of the ones I use are free !! (open office, firefox, skype, etc)
And if you ever decide to have just an ordinary USB Drive with all the space availabe just to store files.. Just Uninstall it.. [...]
But nowadays, who would not want the REAL Upgrade you can get with a USB Drive.. This the perfection...
To me, it is a regular Usb Drive most of the time, just transfering documents... But sometimes, I go ahead and start the U3 Launchpad and start using the programs I need, without worring about leaving trails and information at the computer behind...
And more.. You have all sort of data protection with it, in case it is stolen, lost or someone want to get the date out of it for any purpose....
Think again and you will see that this is the Future of USB drive... Just learn how to use and you will not want to have just a regular one anymore...
U3 is a must ... Once you get used to it...
Take your time, instead of just listening to people who over react to something that is new...
As I mentioned at the beggining.. You decide what you want..
Regular USB or a Real portable system with all the information at any computer...
Perfect choice... :-)
Customer Review: Great Item, Perfect for College Student! Summary: 5 Stars
I just recieved my SanDisk 2gb Cruzer Titanium today via UPS, on the exact promised delivery date. I was stupid enough to order it the weekend of labor day, but it's fine because the wait was extremely short. As usual, Amazon is a leader in sending products out in a timely and efficient manner, making the end-user wait as little as possible.
And now onto my review..
After feverishly tearing open the package of the flash drive, I inserted it into my computer to find a pleasant video demonstration of how to use U3 software. I don't know about all the others who complained that it took up too much space, or make their flash drive crash, or anything along those lines, but I found the U3 software extremely easy to use, very user friendly, and very helpful. I am a college student, and with the high level of security and monitoring on college computers, I wanted a flash drive with a large enough capacity to house portable versions of my favorite programs (Firefox, Open Office, Trillian, etc.) to be able to run them right off the flash drive, and not worry about leaving behind any traces on the college computer.
I also like the fact that it comes with built-in password lock security features, and a very simple, fast, and user-friendly password managing software. Overall I have no complaints over the amazing service, speed of delivery, and FANTASTIC price of this item! I will surely do business with Amazon.com in the very near future.
As far as the physical aspects of the flash drive go, I have a SanDisk MP3 player with the similar "LiquidMetal" casing, and this casing does not scratch for ANYTHING. I've taken my car keys and pushed them as hard as I can into the casing and it will NOT scratch. With that being said, I have no qualms about it being dropped or subject to any shock. This is a VERY sturdy and well-made device.
Just as a side note, I went to Staples today and saw this EXACT flash drive for $54.99 + tax..and I was astounded as to how I bought the EXACT same one for $19.99 + $6 something shipping and handling, and that is surprising because the price is now $25..so I guess I ordered it just in time and saved a few dollars.
Only semi-negative thing I would say would be that it comes with a hole FOR a lanyard, but no lanyard is provided! Just a minor thing but some people may find that inconvenient.
Customer Review: Almost Perfect Summary: 5 Stars
I have been a big fan of USB drives ever since they started coming out about 5 years ago. They have made zip drives and floppy disks obsolete. Through the years, I have owned about a dozen different kinds from different brands. Compared with others on the market and all the USB drives I have ever owned, the Sandisk Titanium drive is among the best. Here are the reasons why:
Pros: It is built tough (titanium coated) to withstand thousands of pounds of pressure. No other on the market has this feature. The read and write speed is consistently fast. It has a small form factor (though there are others that are smaller), The blue LED indicator light is nice, it's price is a bargain for the quality, and it's highly reliable. The retractable feature is also a nice touch. I really like that there's an option to delete the pre-installed U3 software on the drive.
Cons: The silver surface scratches surprisingly easy and
makes it look dirty (and no longer shiny) when scratched. The drive could be even smaller. In fact, the first generation micro USB drives from Sandisk were smaller! Although, this 2nd Generation drive is about a third smaller than the original titanium drive. Other metallic color options would be nice... instead of just silver.
Conclusion: This drive is the Porsche of USB/thumb drives... and yet it's
now affordable. The price is about half of what it used to be when it first came to market. It's also reliable, tough, well built, and attractive. If they could somehow make it a bit smaller and scratch resistant... it would be perfect.
Note: If you like this drive but don't like the silver metal color, the Sandisk micro drive is almost identical but is made from black plastic instead of titanium coating. It also has an amber colored LED instead of blue and is also less expensive. Size, Shape, and Functions are the same.
Customer Review: Almost perfect Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this drive because of U3. I wish it was better designed, but its exactly what I need. It has many apps that I regularly use (firefox, skype, openoffice, trillian), and all work brilliantly. My boss at work blocked internet access from IE (that hindered me a lot) So this has been a god send (especially since I am in charge and needed to send emails and such from MY email). I use programs on several computers, most programs aren't that large. With everything I still have a gig left (documents and everything included. I'd still like to get a larger flash drive without U3 in the future, but only because I'd like to dedicate this one to work and keep only documents and necessary programs. Well that does it for the software review...
Now I'm not clumsy or by any means rough with my hardware, but... I mean come on, flash drives are in constant use and really it gets beat up. So the titanium you can tell is instantly stronger if you've ever held a plain flash drive before. It hasn't taken much, but I doubt it'll ever go past the pressure threshold they advertised, or even close, less I decide to test it and run it over with a car. Which may actually be fun (my friend did that with his and it STILL works). The only thing I did was take out the cruser icon that popped up. Everything else is as perfect as can be. If you give a negative review based on U3 I suggest you research what you buy first so you know what you are paying for. Those people really have no right to complain, it says in the product description what it is. Don't buy it if U3 isn't what you want.
Customer Review: I'm impressed so far... Summary: 5 Stars
But only time will tell. I purchased the SanDisck 2 GB Cruzer Titanium about two months ago and immediately put it to use. It seems very capable of transferring both small and large files very quickly. And yes, it's very stylish and feels durable--although I haven't had the nerve to test its durability by dropping it or driving over it with my car.
The software it comes with (U3 Launchpad) is a little overkill for my taste but I appreciate the bundled password protection utility. (I would have opted for the much more secure Kingston Data Traveler Elite which has hardware-based file protection but it was pricier.)
Lastly, it's nice to see that SanDisk included a steel ring with which to secure the drive to your key ring. I've seen others that came with string or would even situate the tether ring on the removable, and losable, end cap (ugh!). The SanDisk Cruzer's drive itself is retractable so there is no cap. But this also means that if you spill your Frappucino next to your keys then you had better act quickly and cross your fingers since the male portion of the drive is, in essence, exposed--even if it is retracted.
I'm still one of those that thinks it's great that we're able to carry around two gigs of storage on our keys for $40.
Hope this helps.
