When my Logitech Wingman finally expired, I decided to indulge in something higher up the scale. The Saitek X52 is well made, has a good feel and anchors well even when the suction cups lose their grip.
Unfortunately, the documentation is a bit on the cryptic side. At this price, the documentation should be first-class and include a quick reference card to help familiarize oneself with all the wonderful controls on the thrust lever and joystick. Call me old fashioned, but flipping to a pdf file in the middle of an approach is not as handy as a printed card in front of the monitor.

I had the CH Yoke and Throttle set first which was ok, but I didn't find that set up had the sharp control feel I was looking for. I did some research on the web, reading the reviews on different systems and finally decided to go with the Saitek X52 Pro Flight System. I ordered it and while on the expensive side, I found everything about this controller to be first class and worth every penny. It looks great, feels great in your hands, and it is far more precise at controlling all aircraft axis. I' completely satisfied and will never go back to the CH Yoke setup again.Customer Review: Great Flight System Controller

I upgraded from the orginal X-52 which also was a great stick in my opinion, never had the problems with it has other people had. The only minor problem with the orginal joystick that was corrected with the X-52 Pro, was the weak center spring. The Pro also have different look and hat buttons along with several other improvements. You will have to re-program all of your profiles if you are upgrading from the older version.You can't beat Saitex for the price and proformance, I'm satisfied.Customer Review: saitek x52 pro joystick

I haven't had it long enough to get as much out of it as it is capable of doing.I have found that it is very smooth and makes the gaming experience much more enjoyable.I also have a two year old saitek evo force,and I miss the feedback in the new one. That's about the only thing I would add to the x52.Over all a very good investment.

What else can be said of this setup? I use it for Falcon and for both versions of Microsoft Flight Simulator. The ability to program functions into various switches makes the realistic ability of this controller far better than others that I have used, and much more real world. Face it. Software is taking over many manual tasks, even when rolling in hot on a bombing run. The ability to switch modes on the fly (pun intended) is awesome and makes the game far more fun.
