Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Saitek X52 Flight Control System

Customer Review: Best joystick I have ever owned
Summary: 5 Stars

The last joystick I have own was the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. That thing seems like nothing compared to this. The picture you see at Amazon makes it seem like it is very small, but it is a pretty good size.

I don't know what this jotsick could be without the throttle. It brings out the full effect of the X52. The stick is what makes it thought. It takes awhile to get used to because it is so easy to turn. When I saw all the the fire buttons and everything on this I said to myself "Man, I need Combat Flight Simulator for this thing".

There is a button on the throttle that acts like your mouse. When you are in the middle of a flight of you can use that button on your throttle, instead of taking your hand of of the joystick to use it. I thought it was a really handy feature. I can't even start to name everything you can do with this.

The way it looks really boosts the rating. When I plugged it in the my 2.0 USB port, and I looked at it, basically everything was glowing blue. It was the coolest thing I have ever seen! It might seem funny for me liking the joystick because it looks cool, but you have to give it some credit for that.

I was at Best Buy one day and I saw the X45. I pulled the throttle back on it, and it wouldnt stay in place. I went to Saitek's website and I noticed that they had a different model, the X52. I saw the features and I saw that this one had suction cups! So none of you have to worry about the problem the X45 had.

I hope my review was helpful and I would highly recommend this product, "Saitek X52"

Customer Review: an excellent folow up to the X-45
Summary: 5 Stars

I probably spend more time than I should with flight sims, mainly IL2-sturmovik but also FS2004 and lomac, and have worked my way through a few sticks.

before I purchased the X-52 I used an X-45 for near a year. I was happy with it and it still worked perfectly, but when saitek released the'52 I knew I wanted one.

I have used it about 2 weeks now, and man is it sweet. the action on all the axis' is silky smooth, and accurate. I believe the "non contact" technology they are advertising has alot to do with this.

All the buttons are laid out in an intuitive manner, and there are more control options than the X-45 has. the blue LEDs are spiffy, and they thought to allow a way to dim or extinguish them if you so desire

The multi function display is nice to have, but essentialy just eye candy unless you need to know what time it is or what profile you are running.

overall it has a quality feel and look the X-45 was maybe lacking a bit.the hand rest on the stick is adjustable for height, which is also a nice touch. its large enough to accomodate large hands, mine arent exactly tiny and I moved the rest up a notch to be comfortable

I also liked the "two stage" trigger as now a slight pull is guns, and pull it fully and its guns+cannons.its the little things that mean so much.

anyway, it comes highly recommended by me, and at least 6 of the people I fly with also have and love their X-52's. you can't go wrong if you are looking for an advanced flightstick/throttle at a fair price.

Customer Review: Sweet!

I'm not going to going into a long detailed review I am just gonna give to you all straight up. First of all I dont really care for all of the pretty lights and bright looking futuristic funky joysticks that are similar to this. This joystick however caught my attention. For all that this includes and what it is; you can't beat the price on Amazon. I paid ~$98 including expedited delivery now c'mon that is one heck of a price. The overall functions of this joystick rock; yes there are several buttons to program and it can be difficult but not impossible. The joystick can seem a little loose especially when you are in some intense dogfights but the software that comes with it allows you to adjust the joystick so it isn't so bad. The lights can be turned off so it doesn't look so funky (some people might like them...) The throttle is awesome, it gives so much more precise control. The ergonomics are great as well, the joystick and the throttle both have a really good feel to them and even have rubber padding. In ending, it may not be the same as having rudder pedals but really if you have the money and this is something you can afford; get it. If you try to go for anything else you will either get something really cheap and not worth getting or you will be paying a huge wad of cash for another joystick that will most likely be about the same.

Customer Review: extrememly versatile and customizable control system
Summary: 5 Stars

i am amazed at how much this control system can do - a lot of buttons and controls that can be multiplied several times with modes and profiles

the only negative i find is the joystick is a bit loose, wobbles a bit, and snaps a bit hard to the center - i was using the saitek st290 pro with the same type of joystick and it felt a whole lot better - but the versatility of the system more than makes up for it

i use it with ms flight sim 2004 and it works perfect - it automatically installs in the program and the default settings are okay but need to be tweaked for best use - i use the included software to program the controller rather than changing settings in msfs2004 - its very easy to learn and actually works with any program - i created profiles so i can use the joystick and buttons to draw in photoshop and macromedia flash - drawing with the joystick is easy and fun and all those buttons make working in photoshop much faster and easier - my wife has started using the thrust control for working in ms office and i have to fight with her to get it back - she needs to buy her own

now i just need the rudder/brake pedals to go with it and i'll be happy

Customer Review: Great Product
Summary: 5 Stars

I have had this for a month now, and it's great! Although it shows some signs of cheapness, it is well worth it. The controls are nice and smooth, and it's partly made out of metal. There are lots of buttons, and although it may seem confusing at first, reading the manual cover to cover will make it all understandable. None of the buttons come programmed, except for Toggle 1 which changes views and POV hat 1 which looks around. Lots of cool features come with the X52, such as a Multi Function Display which shows which mode you're currently in, the profile you're currently on, the date, the time, and, when you press a button, shows what that button does. It has a stopwatch, too. All the buttons and the MFD light up blue which is cool when you're flying in dim light. The SST programming software is extremely useful if you don't like the way the buttons came programmed. This is a wonderful flight control system, I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a quality product to fly with.

Pros: Smoothness, accuracy, flexibility, lots of cool features, MFD.
Cons: Shows some cheapness, not much besides that.
