Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Saitek Pro Flight Yoke with Three-Lever Throttle (PZ44)

Customer Review: Phantom Button Presses Fixed, Great Product!
Summary: 5 Stars

When I bought and installed my Saitek yoke, the same thing happened; Annoying! Engine cuts, view changes/shifts, gear cycles, you name it. GRRRRR! I did the troubleshooting and RMA from Saitek, etc. etc. and received a new yoke post-haste. Installed it and the CD-ROM, no change. This time, I was ready to rip out my Marine Corps-style hair, until...I gave something a try: I uninstalled the CD-ROM software after learning that it was not needed for the yoke to work; It's only for profiling the yoke's 3-mode option for different aircraft. Once I did that, perfection! FS life's good. I went in, changed sensitivities and null zones and away we went. Now I fly everything from French CriCris to Cessna 172s to Q400s and B-24s. I love this yoke! I've since bought a rudder pedal setup and just got a second throttle quadrant, the latter of which is definitely defective, so it's going back. Saitek's help and support is second-to-none and I wholeheartedly recommend the yoke...just don't install the CD-ROM software.

Customer Review: This is SWEEEEET!
Summary: 5 Stars

If I could give it more stars, I would.

I waited a long time before replacing my CH yoke, which I loved. THis is better. WAY more accurate, WAY smoother. I would rather it had no center detents, but it's not much detraction to have the bump there.

I also purchased the second throttle quadrant. The quadrant that comes with the yoke is PS/2 -ed into the yoke, and the second quadrant is USB. How convenient, a USB hub on the back of the yoke! But it doesn't play well when I first boot the computer. I have to unplug the USB quadrant from the yoke or the yoke won't initiallize. So I am plugging the second quadrant into another USB on the computer. A power supply for the yoke would probably cure this, but I haven't read all the reviews and I"m sure someone already reported on this by now.
No phantom button presses, and more buttons to progran than I can think of what to do with them.

I LOVE this, and I highly recommend it to others, even over the CH yoke.

Customer Review: Saitek Pro Flight Yoke a must for realistic simulator training.
Summary: 5 Stars

This yoke is great for simulator training. I am a flight instructor and like the realistic feel of a yoke compared to a mouse or joystick. Also, the throttle quadrant may be placed on either side of the yoke which is more realistic as an instructor usually sits on the right side of the airplane and uses these controls with the left hand. There are also a lot of switches and buttons that can be configured to match different airplanes. The yoke is very smooth (with a small shot of silicone) and other than being a little too sensitive (as I also mentioned in my review of the rudder pedals which I think is a problem with the simulator software and not the yoke) is a very nice piece of hardware. I am very pleased I bought this yoke. One other nice thing about Saitek is the options they have available.

Customer Review: No problems
Summary: 5 Stars

I was worried about some of the problems reported,
but it was said they were resolved, and this yoke
seemed sturdier than CH, so I risked it.

I've had ZERO problems, took the unit out of the
box, hooked it up, and its been amazing.

If you like flight sims, you owe it to yourself
to have a yoke and pedals, it adds SO much to
the realism.

I have both FS2004 and FSX, I flew single engine
GA for a while, and now am learning to fly jets
in a VA. Needed 2004 for the VA. But the Saitek
components have worked flawlessly in both sims.

Yes there is better equipment out there, but it
gets really expensive above these, and for simple
hobby use there's no need for more than this.

Customer Review: Great buy!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This product was everything I had hoped it would be! I was a long time CH product user, but liked the idea of having the separate throttle quadrant and beefier yoke that the Saitek product offered. I am very happy with my decision to get the PZ44. It mounts to the desk very solidly and does not move at all. I did spend a little time the first day I had it setting up all the controls just like I want them, using the registered version of FSUIPC in Flight Simulator 2004. Once set up, it performed flawlessly on my first 2.5 hour flight using my PMDG 737-800, and upon touchdown the reverse thrust on the throttle lever worked perfectly! I was great not having to use the keyboard for much of anything the entire flight.

Now to save up for a second throttle quadrant!
