Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Saitek PS41 Aviator Joystick for use with PC or Xbox 360 Game ConsoleCustomer Review: Large deadzone with Xbox 360 games Summary: 2 Stars
This joystick does not function correctly with most Xbox 360 flight games, due to a large deadzone programmed into most games.
If you don't know what a deadzone is, it's basically the size of an area where any movement of a stick is not recognized. If the deadzone is too small, even miniscule movements will register an input. But if it's too large, a player must make large movements with the stick before anything is registered.
The deadzone is meant to make it easier for gamepad players, but the side effect is that flight sticks like this Saitek stick suffer from lack of precision. Only the 360's HAWX game has addressed the issue. For Ace Combat and other games, the huge deadzone makes small, fine movements nearly impossible. You're much better off with the thumb sticks of the standard gamepad.
Customer Review: Junk! Summary: 1 Stars
I've used flight & air combat simulators since the DOS days and used various different joysticks through the years including Thrustmaster & MS Force Feedback 2. Unfortunately MS chose to make existing sticks incompatible with the Xbox so I ended up trying the Saitek based on reviews here.
What a piece of junk compared to any decent stick. Poor ergonomics, no adjustments, controls in the wrong places, dead feel, wrong plastic used in some places rubbing, squeaking, dragging & wearing, & overall poorly designed mechanism. The first couple of times it broke (trigger switch, etc.), I was able to make repairs with some epoxy, but the entire rudder mechanisim is now completely shattered - from normal use - and this thing is in the trash can. Don't waste your money!
Does anyone know of a decent stick for the 360? It would be real nice if there was an adapter to make the MS Force Feedback 2 work and provide the kind of adjustments that are available when used on the PC.
Customer Review: Useless Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this fancier than planned joystick as a treat to my self for 3 weeks of not smoking what a mistake you have to download a 211MB file plus a driver to "make it work" when you install only about 40MB ends up on your HD.This device is NOT PLUG AND PLAY!!!! despite removing and reloading the device and the download several times countless trips to the editor never has the twist rudder or either throttle ever worked. the vendor refuses to take it back because I opened it and loaded the software(downloaded not sealed) to discover it did not work so i am out the price and shipping,i will replace it with the Logictek 3D I had planned to buy in the first place. i had one before it is plug and play and all its functions worked right out of the box if you want happy hassle free flying with a joystick avoid this one go with logicteck .and if you want a reliable seller that backs its products avoid Antonline stick with products that come str8 from amazon.

If you are looking for a good flight stick then don't buy this item. Purchase this model instead "Saitek Aviator Dual Throttle Joystick (PS33)." It is only for PC but it is a much better product.

AFTER LEARNING ON THE STANDARD CONTROLLER IT WAS HARDER TO CHANGE OVER THAN I EXPECTED. IF YOU USE CHEAT CODES THIS MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO USE THEM.GOOD LUCK WITH THIS.
