Customer Review: Most bang for your buck!

I can be very indecisive when it comes to my electronics but I can honestly say I very happy with the AV8R-02. I love being able to twist the joystick for yaw or control of the rear rotor. My friend and I were playing Apache Air Assault (GREAT GAME!) and he was flying with his overly expensive Ace combat 6 joystick and was having a hard time being that he cant twist his joystick to control the rear rotor. Needless to say he could not keep up with me and my Saitek.

The only cons in my opinion are its flimsy design but hey, for a joystick under 60 bucks what do you expect. After a good amount of time on the AV8R-02 it begins to squeak and make all kinds of noise and sometime while twisting I feel Like Im gonna muscle the joystick right off but considering I twist it really hard, it totally holds up and withstands my abuse. I really wish they had installed buttons on each end of the left and right throttle control because In H.A.W.X. you have to let go of the throttle and fumble to press one of the face buttons to launch flares. I wish the console flight sims would be more versatile as well, would be very nice to map the buttons to my preferences. Come on xbox, this is the next gen of gaming, get with the program.

Be careful...the price gougers are busy here. This item is said to have a MSRP from MadCatz who licensed the Saitek product for manufacturing also under license by Microsoft for the Xbox 3690 (and likely same deal with PS3) which is 49.95 right now. I do not know why some companies might try and get away with this but It is unethical to more than double a MSRP that was agreed upon and declared by 3 different companies involved even to do what seems to be take advantage of people. Amazon is awesome but I can only guess there was some miscommunication here regarding proces or somthing to that effect. It is an awesome prodct as all Saitek flight stick sets are. i also understand that both the XB360 and the PS3 versions are PC compatible as well. Of course, I have my Logitech Force Feedback awesome controller for that, however, which provides as real a resistance as you can get from a controller due to the power outlet rumble and force feel source. It is nice to feel the resistances change when you are taking a lot of G's and different things are happening to the aircraft. Anyway, be careful how much you spend here as the product is MSRP'd at a different price. Good Hunting Viper Pilots!

This is a lightweight control but very well balanced. You need to put it at a level where your arm remains horizontal or below. It is calibrated very well out of factory but I doubt that would last over a few years of use.

It works just like that with MS Flight Sim X Deluxe. I did not have to install Saitek driver for it. Probably I would get more options to reassign the buttons with Saitek app but haven't tried that yet. By the way, this is on Windows 7 RC Build 7100.

This joystick does everything it says it will do and does it well. It is responsive and the control layout works well on ace combat and tom clancys HAWX. The throttle is not well placed but it beats paying $100+ for the dual controls that are out there.

My only wish is that there would be a force feedback throttle with some resistance to add to the realism. Other than that, great product!
