Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Saitek Eclipse Keyboard ( PZ30AU )Customer Review: Exactly what I wanted Summary: 5 Stars
Overall this keyboard is exactly what I was looking for:
(1) Vibrant background color that does not give me a headache (gentle blue)
(2) Lights up around the edges of the keys and the key value itself (not those TOO MUCH LIGHT boards where the whole thing lights up like a Christmas tree)
(3) Has a light touch with whisper quiet keys. I cannot abide clickity clackity keyboards.
(3) It looks decent. Most lighted keyboards are hideous or bulky (in my opinion).
I was slightly concerned about the reviews claiming the keys wear off in 3-4 weeks, but my guess is that these comments are coming from people that pound on the same 4-6 keys for hours a day. For the gamer who does not play FPS this keyboard is great. I definitely can see how a FPS gamer would wear the paint off the keys in a short amount of time, but a non FPS gamer should not have a problem with this (at least not for many months & hundreds of hours of use).
Customer Review: Gaming by night-lite Summary: 5 Stars
Fantastic item, wished I'd owned one for years. I play a lot of RPGs and MMOGs that require shortcuts. It's no problem in the daytime, but at night I was often hunting the appropriate key. No good if a mob is trying to kill you!
The backlight is adjustable and at the highest brightness is just perfect. Not too bright or garish in complete darkness, and the keys are easy to read.
No drivers or special installation is required, which is a good thing. however, this might account for the fact that the volume up and down keys don't work within all games. Not a big deal because this is supposed to be a basic, backlit keyboard, but would be nice if the volume worked within all games, without having to CNTL-TAB out to adjust. I'm not marking it down for that, however, because the keyboard is just so sweet.
Get one immediately if you're a fan of gaming at night or in the dark (the way it's meant to be played).
Customer Review: Surprised by this keyboard's quality Summary: 5 Stars
I have to say that I'm somewhat surprised by the quality of this keyboard. I was expecting a gimmicky glowing keyboard that wouldn't be much on function. It's actually quite a good keyboard. Very nice to type on. It's quite a bit heavier than my last keybard and the rubber grips on the bottom really anchor it to my desk.
Contrary to what other reviewers have said, I'm having no problem using this product with a KVM switch (so far at least). I'm able to switch easily between my dell and my mac mini using the Iogear USB KVM also sold on amazon.
The only real criticism I have is that the brightness seems to be somewhat uneven. The keypad and function keys aren't quite as bright as the home row.
Also, I've noted that in some lighting situations the keys are actually easier to read with the backlight off. Fortunately there's a switch that allows you to easily turn the backlight off (or dim).
Customer Review: Works great for me! Summary: 5 Stars
Well i been updating my computer, in and out side of it. Finaly i needed a matching keyboard so i went with Saitek PZ30AU Eclipse Keyboard. I love the light, even though i already know where the keys are, and cant type in complete darkness it still cool to have :D. The voulme changing buttons are a great handy tool, maybe buttons to change to the next song would be great too :D. Over all i give this keyboard 10 out of 10, in style 10 out of 10 also, for the price it is worth it.
I see most gave this a bad review because of the reflection of keyboard, yes its true, but thats only if you dont know how to properly use a keyboard. When typing and you look down, you should see your keyboard, it shouldnt be at an angle under your monitor. Best place to have it is on the desk tray for the keyboard. Move it right infront of you till your right above it, and you will notice there is no glare or reflection from the monitor.
Customer Review: Everything It Claims to Be with Superior Touch Summary: 5 Stars
Updated Review. I have now used two of these keyboards, and in both cases the letters on the keys started to wear after a few months. Before that happened with the first one, I also bought one for my wife. Hers is holding up better, but I've been through two in about 16 months. It could have to do with oils in my skin. I'm going to try one more time, and this time I'll coat the keys with clear nail polish, as one reviewer recommended.
One may wonder why I persist after having this problem with wear on the keys. My only explanation is that the touch is far superior to any other keyboard I've used, and my wife agrees. The odd thing about it is that I am a one-finger typist while my wife is an all-fingers touch typist. When the keys started to wear, I connected the older keyboard that came with my computer, and I couldn't adapt. So I'll try again, hoping that the nail polish does the trick.
