Our Dell keyboard letters and numbers started fading not long after we got it. We never had this fading problem before. Got progressively worse so started searching for a backlit one. My husband has backlit on his laptop and I love it. I kept going back to this one and when I decided it was out of stock so I waited. Well worth the wait, I love it. Love the choice of 3 colors-blue,red,purple. I have long nails and to type its great, comfortable for your wrists. Had it almost a month so if I notice any "cons" I will add another review. This was a good price at Amazon (prices usually are) and by the way, we bought a Vista computer and upgraded to Win 7 Ultimate and this works great. I was looking for an ergonomic backlit keyboard, but apparently those two traits don't exist. Therefore, I settled on this because it looked pretty nice. I enjoy the 3 different colors (kind of like a mood ring, the RED looks awesome). The price was great, and the attachable/detachable wrist rest comes in handy. It is adjustable, so you can bring it flush with the edge of the keyboard and not have a space in between - like so many of the pictures show.
The one thing I DON'T like about it was that the media control buttons (play, pause, skip, volume up/down) do NOT light up. How rediculous is that?!?!? They are to the side of the intensity dial, but still it is hard to remember which button does which action.

I'm a very fast touch typist, and the feel on this keyboard is a dream.
When typing or otherwise using the computer in the dark, I was tired of having to turn a light on whenever I went to do something in a "hunt & peck" fashion, such as adjusting the type size with Firefox Control minus & Control plus, etc. I thought "somebody must make a lighted keyboard." And they do. Several companies. I already have a Saitek X-52 and knew the Saitek name, plus the reviews for this keyboard are unequivocally positive, so I ordered one on Amazon with free shipping.
It's gorgeous, has the through-the-key lighting I was looking for, and has a great feel. I couldn't be happier with it. It's a work of art.

I'm middle aged and also take meds which blur my vision a bit, no matter if my glasses are the correct prescription or not. I've spent many a frustrated day and night re-typing things again and again, craning my head to view the keyboard. The Saitek Eclipse II has changed all that. Even without illumination, the characters are larger to see and the keys more responsive than an average keyboard. With illumination and the three color choices, I can see to type clearly in any light setting. The price is certainly right, and amazon is the lowest price I've found that includes shipping. It's a very sturdy keyboard, well made, does not slip around. It's also fantastic for gaming. It's unusual to find this quality at this price.Customer Review: Heavy, but nice. Very nice.

I really like this keyboard, but if you also use your keyboard on your lap, feet on the desk, note this keyboard is HEAVY. I still like it, but was surprised by its weight. Most keyboards don't weigh a thing. This one does. The keys take some pushing to go down and make a soft click, I consider those plus points. But the best is the lights. At first I tried to decide which color I liked most, but quickly realized the real advantage is switching the color and brightness based on task, ambient light, and mood. For instance the purple turned down low is almost a subtle white barely outlining the keys, while red cranked up high illuminates through the letters most distinctly. Overall I am very happy with this keyboard.
