I work a great deal late a night and with lights either off or very dim and this keyboard is excellent for letting me not have to fumble for keys. It's awesome for gaming as well since you can match the blue, purple or red colors to the games if you wish. The only downside was that the key for changing the colors was not too well documented. It's the key that looks like a half filled in circle which is near the top right of the keyboard near the dimmer switch. My keyboard did not have a manual when I got it from Amazon, but I hunted around online for one and finally just pressed every key until this one did the color changes.
They keyboard is quiet, lets you type fast due to an excellent tactile feel and is perfect spacing on the keys. Each key "glows" with the lighting from underneath them. It's subtle, but very nice and works on my system without a hitch. All you do is plug it into a USB slot and it works, no drivers to upgrade, no hassles.

Hi Everybody! I just had to give my own personal review of this Saitek Eclipse II Keyboard (PK02AU) I've never have done this before in public so you can truly believe in the words of which I'm saying to you. This keyboard in my mind is the most quiet, best working and the most coolest keyboard you could ever want in your life! It's a very well lighted keys of which you can change the colors from blue, red and purple. Very great dimmer so you can enjoy the amount of brightness. I can go on and on and on about the Saitek Eclipse II Keyboard (PK02AU) but, what more could be said other than, you can without a doubt what so ever, trust me, buy one yourself you'll never want another one in your life!

-Lighting is not absolutely uniform, slightly dimmer in some areas over others.
Bottom line:
This keyboard may have a few less bells and whistles than it's main competitors, Logitech's G11 and G15, but it makes up for these losses with a quality feel, and some fun color choices. I use this keyboard to write papers, and game, late into the night without disturbing my roommates with bright overhead lighting.
**One large thing to keep in mind is that a keyboard's "feel" is a huge factor, so go to your local electronics store, and try out a few of the styles you are looking at to get an idea of what kind of "feel" you like best. Then, buy it cheap on Amazon.

When you're looking for the latest in style, comfort, and innovation look no further than here. Saitek's Eclipse II is a great deal for anyone interested in a fun, new keyboard. You get to choose from 3 back-lit keyboard settings; Purple, Blue, Red, [Off]. I enjoyed this feature enough to buy this keyboard for that reason, the lighting is not too bright and even if it is you can dim it with the easy to use dialer. It also features a Start, Stop, Pause, Forward, and Back button for your music and also has volume control.
Overall the typing on this keyboard is flawless and quiet. You will notice they are a bit slippery at first to type on, there's no real grip to the keys like older keyboards usually tend to get. It takes time to get used to but once you do you'll be happy with your purchase completely. This keyboard is worth every penny. Great product with awesome features.

The Saitek eclipse II is a wonderful keyboard in use both day and night. Of course, one gets it for it's lighting capabilities and in this case it excels quite nicely! I have no idea what some of the earlier reviews are talking about when they say it's not bright enough...are you kidding me??? How bright do you need it? Red and Purple are more than adequate and blue is slightly lower in brightness quality; however not enough to diminish it's effectiveness. Very quick and springy keyboard touch; has increase my wpm dramatically! I like it's simplicity and I'm quite glad it isn't cluttered up with the unnecessary keys and shortcut tabs of other keyboards. Only minor annoyance is that the keys are slightly smaller and closer together than a standard keyboard, but I got used it it right away...quite frankly, I don't think you can go wrong with this keyboard and would get it again.
