Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Saitek Eclipse II Backlit Keyboard (PK02AU)Customer Review: Why didn't I buy this years ago? Summary: 5 Stars
I absolutely am in love with my Saitek lit keyboard. I can't believe I never knew keyboards that light up even existed. I am on the computer a lot at night or on days when it's cloudy and dark outside. I used to struggle to see the keys since my keyboard sits on a slide out shelf under my desk. That problem evaporated the second I plugged in my Saitek Eclipse II. The plug and play worked like a charm on my HP Desktop with Windows Vista. I was up and running instantly and what a delight it has been. If you have ever strained to see the letters on your keyboard, you won't go wrong purchasing this one. You'll be glad you did! The letter names are cut out so the light actually glows up through the name on the key. A touch of a button allows you to choose three colors, purple, red, or blue. Blue is my favorite, but the purple lights up really bright for the darkest of times. The keyboard is responsive to my touch. Overall, this is a gem and I wish I'd known about it years ago. I will never again go back to an unlit keyboard.
Customer Review: Perfect for Tired Eyes and Dark Places Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased the Eclipse II keyboard for my home office. The lighting is poor in the area where the computer is. I also have eye problmes and do not feel ready for the day-glo yellow keyboard. The info on the keyboard says that the letters on the keys are etched, what that means in real words is that the light from underneath comes up through the letters on the keys, so you can read the keyboard in a dark room. There are 3 lights blue (pretty), red (a bit dark put good for daylight) and my favorite a pale violet/pinkish that has great visability. The sturcture of the keyboard is sturdy and does not move when the operator is typing at high speed. Many of the inexpensive keyboards on the market will "walk" across the desk if you type real fast for an extended period of time -- this one stays in place. It is comfortable to use and has a wrist guard. After researching for a keyboard for over 6 months that would fit my business and my eye problems I found this one -- it is perfect!
Customer Review: This is the heavy duty keyboard of your dreams Summary: 5 Stars
I was in need of a keyboard and torn between the G series and this one, however, I settled on this one and I have not looked back. Though there are no programmable keys I love the color choices as do the others who use it for lighting.
After having knee surgery I moved my computer downstairs and it is now in a darker area of the house. Since I play late into the night on mine between my monitor and the keyboard I have more than enough light to use it without worry.
It has a perfect feel to me for my typing and it is so much quieter than anything I have ever used which I really say bless you for! Of course my granddaughter thinks it is kewl and the purple is more pinkish which suits her just fine. For me the red works for my war games and the blue is fine for other things, what can I say I like variety and I get it all with this keyboard.
It was simple as plug and play on my XP system and has been a joy to have since my first plugging it in.
Customer Review: Great keyboard Summary: 5 Stars
I had an Eclipse I at my old work and loved it. Strangely these days, the keyboards from the major brands almost seem designed to irritate their users. Crazy alignment of keys and poor tactile feedback are the primary culprits. The main reason I got the Eclipse was because it had a nice touch. Perhaps it's sentimental, but the touch reminds me somewhat of the Apple II keyboard, though a bit lighter. Combine the nice touch with the perfect layout, and the keyboard was a winner and served me well for a couple years. My only complaint was that it didn't have media control buttons, only volume.
When I needed a keyboard for the new office, I decided to go with the Eclipse II. It was a gamble because I was afraid that they might have messed up something from the Eclipse I, but I wanted the media control buttons. Fortunately, now that I've used it for a couple weeks, I am perfectly happy with it. It has all the positive aspects of the Eclipse I, and more.
Customer Review: splendid keyboard Summary: 5 Stars
Highly recommended, and the price on Amazon is more reasonable than many brick & mortar stores too. This keyboard has wonderful keys that are neither too springy nor too soft, great for typing, and great for games too. It's a pretty sturdy piece of kit too, and requires no extra drivers. So, of course it's main 'selling factor' is that it offers three different illumination colors - blue, red, and purple - and these can be dimmed or brightened. Worth noting is that the areas around the keys and the keys themselves are lit, so perfect for a darker environment. I like the blue color best, but that's probably the darkest, but I still find it's illuminated adequately. The purple color really shines though, and there's side strips that light up your desktop too. Very blingin'? Yes, for sure. Overkill? Perhaps, but I don't think this keyboard looks too tacky, in fact I've found it super useful to have a comfortable and durable keyboard for those late night gaming sessions.
