Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Saitek Eclipse Backlit Keyboard - Red LED ( PZ30AUR )Customer Review: great keyboard, but has 1 flaw Summary: 5 Stars
i just got this keyboard and i love it. its a great keyboard but i have one problem with it. the problem is the lighting. if you are looking at the keys from an angle, you may only see half of the key lit up. this can make it difficult to tell what the key is, due to only half of it being lighted. you wont have this problem though if you are looking at it directly top down, only when looking at the keys on an angle. its not a major problem though, as you can still make out most of the keys. the only time it is a big problem is with the numpad and keys that have more than one letter on them, like say the insert key. you probably wont use those keys a lot anyway so its not that big a deal.
all and all, its a great keyboard if you can get past that one flaw.
Customer Review: Great Keyboard Summary: 5 Stars
I'm using this keyboard right now. I've had it for a year or so, and I love it. As some reviewers said, there are no media controls, but if you're like me, you prefer to not have them because they're just extra buttons that get in the way. For me, this is a perfect keyboard with nice key action and simple design. As for the backlighting, i don't think I'll buy another keyboard in the future if it doesn't have backlighting. That is the main reason I bought this board, and it is even more useful than I thought. Honestly, who would rather play games with the lights on? I've bought two keyboards in the time I've had this, and both times switched immediately back to the Saitek. I'm going to buy another one for my second PC. I hope this review helped, cheers!
Customer Review: nice smooth keyboard Summary: 5 Stars
The eclipse keyboard is one very nice keyboard with soft tactile feedback on the keys. some people may not like it because the click sound when you press a key is very soft. The keys are all smooth too, so you need some time to get used too. The typing sound on this keyboard is not totally silent, but a lot softer than other keyboards. I have heard that the keys are smooth because they are painted, and that after a while the paint may peeled off, but I have no problem yet (owning it for a month only though).
The backlight on the keyboard is ok. There are 3 settings for the light: off, low, bright. The bright setting make all the keys distinguishable in total darkness without too blinding on your eyes. I never use the low setting though.
Customer Review: Excellent keyboard for no-light conditions Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this keyboard specifically for its red backlighting and standard key-layout. It really only has 2 brightness levels (the "3" levels are really high/low/off), but it works well enough to find your keys in relatively low light. I use it in various places: living room (at night with no lights on watching tv), office (no lights at night), outside connected to my laptop and telescope. The red light does not adversely affect your night vision, as any other color light will do, so you can still make out dim galaxies and nebulas while attempting to capture their images on your laptop.
For $20, it is one of the very best.
Customer Review: P.I.M.P. Summary: 5 Stars
This product is everything you could want in a low-light gaming environment. The 2 levels of lighting take into account that there may be times when it is more dark than others, so you're vision of the screen is never impared. Plus, it makes it easier to just glance down at the keys and see them rather than feeling around for the bumps on the "f" or "j" keys to find out where you are on the keyboard. I would recommend this for anyone who is a serious gamer and doesn't like the gamepads or speedpads. And the best part about this keyboard is, while also making gaming a lot easier, it is very ideal for a regular keyboard's use too!!!
