Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SVAT GX5203 Wireless Portable Video Security System ? 2.5-Inch LCD & Outdoor Night Vision Surveillance CameraCustomer Review: Good but has some flaws. Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this system specifically to have a wireless monitor to watch the front of the house from inside the car before opening the garage door. In my case the fact the cameras are wireless wasn't important because I could draw wires to the camera location.
The system is reasonably good but has some flaws.
One thing is that it suffers a lot from interference with 2,4GHz cordless phones. Even if the phone is on the base it keeps sending signals will create white lines or pulses that completly mar the image, you really can't see a thing.
If you keep the base more than 30 ft away or change the cordless phone to something with a different frequency than it solves the issue. I did not have interference with my Linksys Internet Router though.
Second thing is that you need to remove the batteries to plug the power supply to the display. This is a pretty stupid design as you cannot leave it plugged on AC power and simply disconnect to take it with you. The receiver even comes with a wall support but if you want mobility, consider purchasing two kits with displays or another kit with camera + receiver with RCA outputs (cheaper).
The IR LEDs will illuminate about 10-15 ft. radius, so an IR illuminator is something to consider.
The range is reasonable and the image quality is reasonable. I have some doubts it is really weatherproof, probably will seal some silicone RTV just in case. Also the power jack to the camera isn't sealed for water.
Bottom line: It works, but has some flaws. I think the price is reasonable for what you get.
Customer Review: night vision needs improvement Summary: 3 Stars
We just received the product along with an extra camera. During the day the picture is clear, but at night, we can't see a thing out of one of the cameras. It might be that we have them too high up, so I will contact support tomorrow. Also I believe my satelite internet is causing the line that's going through it, and sometimes it gets fuzzy.
I bought an RC jack to attach to our computer and an external hard drive so we can record 24hrs a day......
Ok so I would say it's between a 3 & 4 now. We moved one camera to the house, right above the garage, and lowered the other camera to 12 feet. It's still hard to make out a clear picture at night. The CSR was great over the phone and said it all has to do with how many led lights you have around the camera. I did move my wi-fi connectors and anything else that's 2.4gh can interfier(?), but we no longer have the line down screen.
All in all it's a good set up for the money, I just wish we had a clearer picturer a night.
Customer Review: Conflicts with other 2.4GHz devices Summary: 3 Stars
I had a lot of interference problems using the SVAT GX5203, I noticed that as soon as I disconnected my cordless phone (Panasonic 2.4GHz) the problem was solved, moving the receiver and/or the phone to another location did not work, so I had to replace my phone with a newer DECT 6.0 and everything worked just well. The reception range is pretty good and the image quality is a bit under my expectations, sound is clear and the camera seems to be tough enough for outdoor usage. The fact that the batteries need to be removed to plug the AC/DC adapter is beyond my understanding.
Customer Review: wireless portable security camera Summary: 3 Stars
Product arrived in good condition. Disappointed in poor range of camera to video receiver. Within the length of one room (15ft), with nothing in between, the video was already static and grainy. Audio picked up fairly well. Comes with 9v transformer plug it when connected to outlet, however since it runs on 9v you cannot directly connect to house power (110v).
