This device does what it advertises - allows you to hook standard def AV equipment (e.g. DVD players, older game consoles) that only have S-Video or Composite video output to a computer monitor with VGA in. . .it does a very competent and non-exciting "upscaling" of the content, so don't expect hi-def like video. For that, you'd need a lot more expensive hardware, but this gets the job done and does it for a reasonable price. I used it to run the s-video out from an HVX-200 to a 26" Vizio monitor for focus and performance review.Customer Review: Makes My Super NES Playable Again On My LCD TV

The good thing about using this device is that I can now play my U.S. Super NES, as well as several other game systems like my TV Games units, on my flatscreen LCD TV through its PC monitor port without having the game screen suffering problems when I power up. However, if one's buying this in the hopes that it may serve as a PAL-to-NTSC converter, like I did when I tried to get my PAL-compatible Super NES to run on my flatscreen TV and monitor, it won't work.Customer Review: Good except whine

It is excellent at converting from the AV cables to the VGA so that a computer or projector can be used to play the video game. The one I received has a small whine when I connect any speaker device to it though. I don't know if that is standard for these devices or just a fluke with mine. I would recommend this product as long as I informed the person of the possible sound whine issue.Customer Review: You get what you pay for

The VGA output looks fine on a 17" monitor, but the audio (particularly the pass-through from the computer) has a lot of static and is best kept at a low volume. I think it's a good deal for the price, but if you're serious about your sound quality then you'd probably be better off with one of the $100 models.Customer Review: I wanted one of these so much I ordered it

I never received this item. Amazon shipped it on time as usual but it was mis-delivered from my post office, never to be seen again. I'm saving up money to order another one, and maybe pay extra to have UPS bring it. Super saver shipping was a little too much like a Secret Santa in this instance.
