I am an extremely price conscious buyer, and at 3+ GB per dollar value, this drive certainly has my vote. The performance is great - it's quieter and faster than any of my internal hard disk drives, so I'm not complaining about the lack of firewire support or any such. So long as my data gets backed up accurately, I do not care if I lose a few seconds here and there - I lose them all the time anyway. It looks awesome as well, and at that price and warranty, there just isn't a better purchase around...Customer Review: Working great for last 9 months

I bought this product 9 months ago from CompUSA with the cheapest price. And I am using this drive not only storing huge data files but I use this drive for hours of Video Processing. Sometimes non stop for 4-5 weeks. And so far working fine. But after reading all the recent reviews I am afraid that either the drive may fail or I will loose all my data. So probably I will buy another drive soon for backing up this drive as well as I don't have much space left. So far I am very happy with this productCustomer Review: Even works for Dummies!

It should be illegal to sell most computer equipment to someone as technologically challenged as myself but this thing is "a piece of cake." Kinda like a big honkin' flash drive with an A/C powercord. At 500GB, I never even want to know as much info as this thing will store. Backed up EVERYTHING from my MAC on it and it was like putting a B-B in a Boxcar! For my home use, even with mountains of photos and graphics, the storage capacity of this thing is nothing short of "cavernous."Customer Review: A Perfect Drive For The Price!

Just a quick review of one of the best purchases I've made on Amazon.com! The Seagate FreeAgent Desktop 500GB external hard drive was incredibly easy to set up and has not given me one bit of trouble! I have used it 10-12 hours a day consistently since I installed it over 6 weeks ago and it has been a huge help to my work. The compact 3 and 1/2 inch design fits perfectly at my desk and looks great! At this price I definitely got the bang for my buck that I was looking for!Customer Review: Does what it's suppose to

Although I can't speak on the behalf of those who maybe got defective ones, I got this drive because through my research it was the most reliable and had the fewest defects and DOA's. I've had the product for several months and hasn't done me wrong. keep in mind though that whenever you buy any harddrive external or not the actual usable space is always lower than what it says due to how space is allocated. (500gb = 465gb of usable) all and all, it's a great drive.
