Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SE Magnifier, Headband LightedCustomer Review: Good Magnifier for the money Summary: 4 Stars
This is a good magnifier for the money. It has clear lenses and is easy to set up.
Customer Review: It has issues... Summary: 3 Stars
This is obviously not a professional quality magnifier. It's OK for hobby work, I suppose, but now that I've bought it I wish I had spent just a little more for a better one. The biggest problem I have is that the pivot points on the headband don't have much friction, so the magnifier won't stay up when I push it up. And when I'm actually looking through it, the magnifier wants to drop down onto my nose. My nose is the only thing that holds it up sometimes, and that's just awkward.
The magnifiers themselves are mediocre. They have plastic lenses (I wasn't expecting glass for $7.50) and the image is OK, but it's not as crisp as I'd like it to be. Especially through the loupe. I have no problem with the loupe friction, as another reviewer did, but that's probably just a matter of time. Even though I just spent $7.50 on this, I think I'm going to go ahead and buy a better one.
Customer Review: Head Visor magnifier Summary: 3 Stars
Wears well on the head and the lens plastic is pretty scratch resistant. But he loupe magnifier attached to the outside needs a different kind of mounting. The screw keeps coming loose and is a real bother when being used a lot while working with mineral specimens. You have to constantly keep using a small screw driver to tighten the screw; otherwise it keeps falling into your line of vision when looking at specimens or just swings back and forth when you turn your head even just a little. Does it work? Yes. Magnifies well and the loupe makes small specimens easy to see. But the mounting needs to be changed to something with a bit of friction that stays at that point of friction so you can do a lot of close work without the bother of constantly tightening it again and again.
Customer Review: Magnifier Lighted headband Summary: 3 Stars
Product is ok, but the head band adjusts by velcro and is not easy to get to right tightness, the Magnifier is also to heavy for non-ajsutable piviots on head band. It pivots very well but will not stay in place except when it rests against your nose or hits the piviot stops. It is ok, but not really the best choice.
The Magnifier lenses are ok, made of plastic, except the small loop which is glass, So cleaning you have to be very careful.
Lighting in the head band are bascilly worthless, they are not very bright. Only good if working in almost to total darkness.
I would recommend that if you can afford it go with a better product with adjustable tension piviot points and a better adjustable band. but for the money this product is ok.
Customer Review: Cheap enough Summary: 3 Stars
I have several types of head worn magnifiers including the Bausch and Lombs and the no-name brand you see everywhere for a single digit amount. These are also low cost and seem to have a lot of features such as two leds each needing a pair of AAA batteries. There is also a flip down additional magnifier which is actually pretty useful, and an additional external loupe. The price you pay for all this is weight, especially with batteries in, as this item is not a very comfortable fit, nor is it light in weight. The quality is OK and certainly OK for the price, and a much better overall value, and much more comfortable and usable than the expensive B&Ls, which come last in my ratings.
