Customer Review: HEADBAND MAGNIFIER AT A GREAT PRICE

Outstanding magnifier with options to increase or decrease the magnification three different ways! I have seen this exact magnifier on the web for over $35. or $40. dollars! But I got mine at a great deal and it is everything they said it would be. I use it for a number of applications but mainly to clean the sensor on my D2X. The LED lights work great and put the light where I need it. The only flaw is the way the hinges are made. When I lift the hinged section up over my head, it doesn't stay there long. They need to make a little detent device or locking system to fix that but it's hardly a bother. I simply remove them when I need to or I look 'under' the magnifier the way I look 'over' my reading glasses when I want to see something in the distance. It's shoddy, but adequate for occasional use, and a good value considering the $6 price. I gave it 4 stars because of the price.
I had two problems with mine:
1. The flip-down lens is very difficult to flip back up.
2. There is not enough friction to keep the visor in a horizontal position. It keeps falling down. The solution is to place the object you want to look at so you can look directly down, with gravity on your side.
I notice that others have different problems, so there is probably a lot of variation from sample to sample.
The headband, LEDs, and optics seemed OK. The instructions are unclear, but you can figure it out without them.
I'm glad I got it, and recommend it for infrequent use.

This works okay. the standard mag is like my reading glasses. but you flip down the 2nd lenses (easy operation) and then get some serious magnification. Has a 3rd high mag (1 eye only) for those needs. Hood flips up easily and it is very light so you can keep it on for hours and not notice it. It is half the weight of my stetson hat. I lightened it up even further by taking off the LED lights. They aren't really all that usseful anyhow. Most of the time I use this on the standard mag, and flip down the 2nd lenses when I need to look at something close.
It does the job, decently constructed, easy to use, lightweight, and for only $7.50 shipped, you can't go wrong.

Needed a handfree magnifier to work on smaller projects. Works well. Not sure about the need for the whole visor thing but works well for the price. Almost paid $40 for the popular visor one at a hobby shop. Glad I checked Amazon. A bit on the cheap plasicy side but for the price - how can one complain - it does the job. Must be pretty close to the project you are working on though due to the fixed nature of the magniifcation.
Will it last, who knows, but at this price I can buy another.

This is really a GREAT product! My husband has wanted one of these FOREVER to use at home, because I am constantly breaking my jewelry and he has a hard time seeing how to fix it for me. He was sooooo excited when he opened it on Christmas morning. He immediately checked it out to see just what it would do. We highly recommend it for those close-up jobs!
