The Sanyo Xacti waterproof digital camcorder/camera is soooo adorable! I could not believe how SMALL it was when it arrived. My husband likes to film underwater when snorkeling. Previously we used our Sony Camcorder with a "waterproof housing" that was very bulky to travel with, plus a "dive light". Wow, with this baby we are traveling light! You don't need a dive light with the included video editing software, you can adjust the colors to remove the "blue" tint.
The camera is also fantastic for using in the rain, at the beach or the pool - you don't have to worry about it getting a little wet. The camera quality is about what you'd expect - not HD quality but fine for home movies, YouTube, etc. You can bring multiple SD cards with you for tons of recording time - this is much more convenient than the miniDV tapes. I can directly import photos and videos into iTunes and put them on my iPod touch, which is SO convenient. I can't say enough great things about the Sony Xacti camera. It's adorable, functional - all in all, a great gadget!

This was an upgrade for me from the first model of this camera. One of the reasons I picked this camera is its water capability. I was always worrying about the regular point and shoot getting dirty or splashed and avoided use in inclement weather. Having a camera designed for water use to 1.5 meters gave me a comfort level to get a lot more use out of the camera. It takes decent still pictures for well-lit outdoors shots. This (prior model, now this) is the camera we take on our yearly camping/tubing trip to the clear, spring-fed Frio River. No worries about splashing and the kids had fun capturing underwater video with the fish in the river. This is also the camera I pulled out for some quick outdoors shots during Hurricane Donna. The software bundle included Adobe Premiere 4 for editing and your video. I purchased an 8GB SDHC memory card which allows a good bit of capture time. I did find it necessary to purchase a second battery to have more record time.Customer Review: Excellent product

I had read all the reviews before buying the product and they were largely favorable. I can certainly add my voice to that group. The Xacti comes out of the box and into service right after charging the battery. It was easy to use and takes outstanding still pictures as well as very high quality video. I have never been a video buff but I felt that I wanted to try to get more into it when considering all of the great tools now available for manipulation of video. I now find myself remembering to bring the Xacti and having video memories available.
I had read some people thinking the battery life could be a problem. I have not experienced that and I wonder whether the concerns might not stem from the difference between the sleep setting and the off setting. The Xacti can be be turned off with a long push of the on/off button but it can also be suspended with a short duration push of the on/off button. It seems at least plausible that some people think it is off when it is not actually. Certainly just a theory.

Most hikers have either point-and-shoot digital cameras (which have a setting for videos) or a digital camcorder. The point-and-shoot cameras, though, don't allow you to zoom in and out during your video. Well, this Sanyo Xacti VPC-E2 allows you to do that - obviously because it is mostly meant for videos. But even most camcorders aren't waterproof. This one is! And for such a great price. I never even found out before I bought this camcorder that it records audio, takes pictures in several different settings, takes sequential pictures in some of those settings, and takes videos in (I think) every setting, as well as being able to take pictures while taking a video! This is something extremely helpful for hikers - most don't want to get their camera wet, which limits their routes. But now they don't have to be worried! Great camera, great price! I would suggest this to anyone who doesn't want to spend a lot of money on a camera!Customer Review: Fun, interesting digital camcorder!

I'm glad I bought this little fun camcorder with a great price at Amazon Warehouse before it went out of stock.
It is very solidly build, feels good in your hand (either you're left or right handed). To my surprise it also comes with a nice Adobe Premiere Elements 4 software for video editing.
First of all don't compare this camcorder with those mini DV or DVD camcorder. This isn't made for that. If you want higher video quality, this isn't for you. What make this Sanyo camcorder shines is it's small and compact size, waterproof function, decent video clips (MP4 format) outdoor or under water, uses popular cheap SD memory cards, easily download files into your computer, ipod, PSP or you tube. It is truely a fun camcorder for your family and travel activities, rain or shine.
It now stays in my pocket all the time. My advise is to get a couple extra batteries and SD cards, so you can shoot nonstop.
