Where has this been all my life???
I think of all the cool trips I've been on and I would've killed to have one of these at that time. I didn't even know such a thing existed until I found this. Who knew that these were being made for average everyday consumers and at an affordable price?
Got water? No problema! This camcorder can handle the water and anything else you can throw at it. In an effort to give the most precise review possible, I did don my wetsuit and dove into my 60 degree pool. Brrrr. I even dropped this camcorder to the bottom of the pool a couple of times and when I played back the recording, no skips or anything and no problems with the camera. This gadget is wicked cool! The battery did poop out on me a little quick, but that could be from the cold water. I recommend getting an additional battery, but I do that will all my gizmos. Nothing more frustrating than having the battery loss at a critical moment in filming.
Did I mention that this takes still shots, too? Pretty good ones, at that. This is the camcorder/camera that I have dreamed about.
I found this device incredibly easy to use, but it will take me a while to become accustomed to all of the features. My teenagers are dying to use it in the pool next summer. I will update this review as I use the camcorder more. I plan on purchasing some accessories (extra battery, new camcorder case) for it and I'll update with what I got and how it worked out.

We've taken this on trips and used it over the summers. We love it! I made some really cool videos of the kids. The only thing I can tell you is LOOK OUT for how hot the battery compartment gets. They must have made this thing out of microwaveable plastic because that battery gets incredibly hot when using this camera a lot. I try to quit filming for about 10 min intervals to give it a chance to cool off.
Aside from that, this is definitely one of the coolest things I've ever owned. I've got many more adventures planned for it.

Let me start off by saying congrats to Sanyo on this one. I have owned many Sanyo cameras. This one really does perform better than I thought it would. I have had a Sanyo HD700 and was never really happy with the pics or video from it. Also the focus was really slow. I also have a Sanyo HD1000 and no it is not better than that but the focus is much quicker on this Sanyo E2. The Sanyo E2 is also water proof to 5foot and is much smaller than the HD1000. I was very impresseed by the pictures from the E2 they look just as good as my 800.00 Hd1000. The video from the E2 is also very good in low light. I did have to manually set the ISO to 400 to get good video at low light levels without grain showing up. This camera is a very good performer over all and very impressive. I have used it for several days and have not noticed any probelms with the battery life being short at all. My Kodak V1253 has what I would call short battery life.
I like how the Sanyo E2 feels in your hand and does not get hot after using for awhile like some cameras do. I would most certainly recommend this one.
Pros: Goes in bad whether when other cameras can't
The focus speed is very quick. The fastest I have seen yet.
The video comes out very good in low light if 400 ISO is used

I've had this for 2 years now and love it! At the time, I wanted a camcorder so I can record my kids and put them on youtube to share with family far away. Before this I've been using my Canon Powershot Camera but the video quality is horrible and the file is too big. I also was eyeing the Flip Video but it was too expensive so I chose this one.
I love the video quality! In lighted condition, the quality is excellent. I can record my children's milestones and shenanigans and share it with family through youtube. In low light the picture is grainy but that's the case whatever camcorder you use anyway. I have a Canon DV camcorder and it takes grainy videos in low light as well.
Ease of use is excellent. I can shoot a video and go to my computer right away and upload it to youtube. The battery life is great! I haven't tested the waterproof claim and I don't plan on it. I don't need to shoot underwater. :)
The zoom on the video camera is better than my Canon POwershot. I used this on the beach and was able to shoot my husband body surfing from far away. This is good for school performances which I've already had. My 3 year old twins had a school spring presentation and caught it nicely from from the back row (I think I was more than 50 feet away from the stage).
The picture quality is good outdoors. But other than that, I don't like it and don't use it for this purpose. The only time I use it is if I was video taping and thought what was happening would be great in picture. I go ahead and do that while filming. That's a nice feature.
The camera uses a SDHC card. If your laptop or computer uses the old SD cards (not HC), you'll need an adapter.

This is an awesome little camera. Anybody who surfs or hangs out at the beach should have one. Its so small you can just stuff it in the front of your wetsuit and head out. If you hang out in the channel you just get great photos and movies without any worries, because you can use all the buttons just like you could on land. The picture is really clear and you can get some great photos or vids all you have to know is left button pic right button movie. Its so small and easy to use it's not tough to get waves while using it. Just a glimpse into the here and now, and not a second lookback to waterhousing, especially for movies its just too easy to use. Then when you get in you just literally rinse the sand and saltwater off in the showers. It isn't the highest extreme quality product, obviously for the price you're not getting lots of zoom and I don't know what else but I've been just fine with the pic quality. Just that the design leads you to wonder if all camcorders are gonna end up being water resistant, kinda like sport watches. And if they can make this little product work so well in the ocean, then they probably can make some super HD master camcorders too that would go for like 2K. And if you have a laptop with an SD slot, you're pretty much already there. Oh yeah and its good enough to be your only camera too because the specs are fine. Me and my boy just went to A day with Thomas at the train station and we got some insane great pics there too. Things like this really do exist now adays. I was shopping for a small hand held video camera for my 11 year old daughter. I had looked at the Flip at Target and other various cameras at Best Buy when my friend told me she was buying this particular camera for her daughter as well. She told me they had spent the summer using a friend's camera underwater in their pool and they had such a good time she decided to buy her own. I had never heard of this particular brand and I had not considered a waterproof camera before, but now I was getting excited because this was an added benefit since we had just put in a swimming pool.
Great looking camera, appeals to the young and not so young as well! Easy to use, though we have yet to try it under water (it is Winter right now). Added benefit is that my daughter often captures family fun that I often miss because my camera is not charged, or I don't think to have it ready..this is much more spontaneous and great since we are capturing memories much more often now. My daughter's goal is to make her own home movie, so this is also helping her stay up on technology learning new things every day.
My advice, shop around. You can get a lower price on Amazon or other online businesses, versus the mega stores which I found the prices to be much more elevated. Shipped quickly, exactly as described, VERY happy with this purchase and so glad my friend told me about it, otherwise I would most likely have purchased an inferior product and had been disappointed!
