Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sanyo Eneloop AAA NiMH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries (4 Pack)Customer Review: Incredible Rechargeable Batteries! HIGHLY recommended! Summary: 5 Stars
I originally bought a packaged set of these batteries at Costco. It came with a charger and 'C' and 'D' sized adapters. The adapters hold the AA sized batteries inside and coenvert them to the larger cells. These batteries are charged out of the package and hold their charge for an extremely long time. This means, unlike other rechargeables, that once I charge them, I can (and do) pull them out of the drawer after six months and they are still charged!!! They are also super powerful, and last a long time between charges while in the device. They outlast any other rechargeable I have EVER owned...in cameras, daughter's toys, remote control plane transmitter, TV remote, etc. They hold their charge as long as regular alkalines with an added benefit...they do not slowly poop out!!! Most other batteries slowly die out causing the product they are used in to slowly lose functionality. This doesn't happen with these...they deliver full power right up until the battery is fully drained, so you don't lose performance as the battery discharges!!! Obviously I can't say enough good things about these which is surprising since I have always had a bad taste in regard to rechargeable batteries. I love them so much, I bought two 8-packs of AA size and four 4-packs of AAA size from Amazon, in addition to my original Costco purchase. You won't regret your purchase; they may be more expensive, but they last so long and can be charged over and over and over so many times that you save a lot of money over the life of the battery. I have been using/recharging my original set for over a year now with no performance drop!
Customer Review: Convenient but be sure to buy enough for immediate use. Summary: 5 Stars
We used to store our batteries in the refrigerator to try and keep them from deteriorating. That works by the way but we also noticed that we were using quite a lot of disposable batteries. We purchased this charging system and several battery types over a year ago. We have been very pleased with its performance and our battery storage has decreased considerably. We also like the probable environmental improvement of not having to dispose of such toxic items as the old batteries we used to use. WE do recommend that anyone purchasing this system also purchase a number of back-up batteries that they charge and keep in reserve for the inevitable time when you will have to recharge the batteries you have in use. It can be very inconvenient to be listening to Selected Short Stories on NPR and lose your radio signal in the middle of a story without a backup battery being immediately available. The only improvement we hope will be made in these systems is a faster recharging of drained batteries. It can take several hours to recharge any of the many battery types available to you with this charger. Once they are re-charged the batteries keep their charge for a considerable period of time and we have saved money by using them. so stock up on some backup batteries and you will like this service as much as we do.
Customer Review: Unbelievable! Summary: 5 Stars
I recently tried 2 Enloop AAs in a Kodak z712is camera. The camera has been almost unusable because it is a battery monster - nothing I've tried except the very expensive throw-away CRV3s (the recommended battery size) lasts more than about 15 shots. I've tried a few no-name CRV3 rechargeables with no luck. At this point, it was give up on the camera or give in and pay Kodak for their overpriced charger and rechargeable CRV3, which reportedly works well but costs over 1/3 the price of the camera.
The camera will also take AAs, so I tried a few kinds including other NiMh rechargeables. The camera wouldn't even recognize most. I got maybe 5 shots out of some. Finally I tried the Enloops. Absolutely incredible! I haven't worn out the first pair I put in, after intentionally taking over 120 flash shots as rapidly as the camera will allow. The low battery indicator came on awhile ago, but they just keep on going. My camera is saved!
I've got some of the Radio Shack imitations of the Enloops which I tried as well. They seem to hold up, but the cycle time between shots is a lot longer than the Enloops.
I'd give these batteries 10 stars if I could. It's a great example of "value" vs. "cheap." They cost a little more, but are way ahead of anything against which they compete.
Customer Review: Works great in my digital camera Summary: 5 Stars
Eneloop are hands down the best rechargeable batteries I've ever used. Its what rechargeable batteries should have been from the start. Not the joke self discharging rechargeable junk that was all that was available till Eneloop came along. I'm certain the only reason big battery companies won't even attempt a battery like this is because it would destroy their business model. People might stop buying 40 packs of disposable batteries! gasp!
These batteries truly are reusable and so much better for the environment. They are more expensive but worth it and will pay back the difference over alkalines quickly. I'm slowly replacing batteries in every device I own. I've been using these batteries about a year in devices that plow through batteries such as walkmans, tv remotes, digital cameras, kids toys, etc. They work fine with any NiMH rechargeable battery charger. Sanyo sells a charger, but even on their web site they say any charger is fine.
The only warning I have is to make sure everyone in the family knows that these batteries should not be thrown away when they die, just recharge them and use again! What a concept! Say goodbye to disposable alkalines. I feel guilty for the hundreds of alkalines I threw out over the years.
Customer Review: Best In Class Summary: 5 Stars
These were the first "low discharge" (i.e. long shelf life) rechargeable batteries on the market and they're still among the best. My tests, and those of others, confirm they hold a charge longer than competitive batteries, and typically exceed their rated capacity. The only batteries I've found that come close are EnergyON but they're about the same price and I prefer the Sanyo version.
In devices the use very little power, like remote controls, typical rechargeable batteries die of their own self discharge long before they otherwise would. Many NiMh and NiCad batteries lose as much as 15% per month. So even fully charged, they're dead (or nearly dead) in 6 months just sitting in a drawer.
These Eneloop batteries, however, only lose a few percent a month. So they can last a year or longer in something like a remote control before you need to charge them.
If you have a high-drain device like a camera flash or flashlight, that you use often (several times a month) these batteries will offer little benefit over regular NiMh cells. But for devices that you don't use often, or use very little power (like a clock or remote control), they're BY FAR the best choice.
