Customer Review: Eneloop batteries, what a wonderful invention.

I have been using Monster batteries for years and thougt there was nothing better, but eneloops arrive ready to go and just last an amazingly long time. I have been extremely pleased with these batteries in my new camera and flash attachment. These items are notorious for eating batterie. Eneloop's keep going when I would have had to stop for a recharge before. I bought a Lenmar Mach1 charger and I am ready to go again in short order. I do recommend keeping a couple of sets for backup (one set for camera and one set for external flash), since some outings are longer than others and I get carried away with the individual flowers or scenes that I want to get as a perfect shot. I haven't tried them in my portable cassette player yet, but have several books on tape that I haven't listened to yet, so their time for trial is coming. Great in the external flash for that bounce lighting shot.Great product. Have a set of rechargeables that came with Lenmar charger and they are not nearly as long lived, so I can't say enough good things about eneloop batteries.Customer Review: Finally, Nimh That Has Shelf Life Close to Alkalines

The biggest drawback for Nickel Metal Hydride batteries is the shelf life. I got gadgets and toys all around the house, so I constantly charging batteries to have them ready when I need them. There will be very little juice left if you put them in the shelf unused for a couple of months. A waste of time and energy. Hence, one of the biggest advancement in battery technology is the arrival of the new low discharge Nickel Metal Hydride batteries. This is another great step in helping the environment. I have very few left of the old batteries since I started to replace all of them with low discharge batteries. Eneloops and Duracell are 2 of the best of its kind.
Pros:
-Low discharge.
-Well constructed
-Conventional size and dimension. I had other batteries that I have to use a screwdriver to remove from my camera because it is fatter than other "AA's".
-Looks so sleek and sexy designwise
Cons:
-More expensive than ordinary NiMh
-Not available at many stores
-Maxes at around 2000-2100 mAh

These pre-charged/hybrid batteries really are everything they are cracked up to be. One thing that may not be initially obvious about them is that they will have a much longer lifespan due to the fact that they retain their charge and that you use most devices intermittently, not constantly. Typically, for example, you don't use your digital camera for hours and hours straight. Normally you use it for a while and then it gets put down for a week or two or even months before its next use. With regular rechargeable batteries you'd then find them dead or very low on power and have to charge them again, and a full charge cycle at that. With Eneloop batteries you'd instead find that the batteries have just as much charge left as when you put the camera down two weeks ago. Even if you do recharge them, it won't be anywhere near a full charge cycle. In the end Eneloop batteries will cost you less because you will be doing far fewer full charge cycles over the same period of time. So just go ahead and buy them. They hold a charge almost as well as an Alkaline, with more power! (almost double in my tests)
Compared to Ni-mh Rechargables
More power as well as they hold a charge for months! After about 1 month of no use I was showing around 85% charge left. That's pretty good to me!
In general
You can use your own standard Ni-mh charger and is should work fine, mine did. (works fantastic for the WII remotes...they last over twice as long as Alkalines)
CONS

They cost a lot. (No problem for me, they pay for themselves in a few uses)
They take a while to recharge...I can't remember how long, Now I just charge them overnight.
In conclusion,
Your hunt for Rechargables is over, get these and find the best of both worlds!!
Customer Review: Excellent Rechargeable Batteries!

I have a digital camera that uses pairs of AA batteries at a time. The camera is an older Sony DSC-W5 and it likes to eat batteries quickly. Eneloop batteries are much better than traditional rechargeables. They have an extremely low self discharge rate. This means you can charge them and still be able to use them next year. I've found that Eneloop batteries usually out preform my 2500mAh Energizer rechargeables, because the Energizers self discharge so quickly. I can't find Eneloops in any of our local stores, even Target and Wal-Mart. I have found some Duracell "Pre-Charged" batteries that appear to be rebranded Eneloops. Other than the wrapper, they look (and preform) like Eneloops, down to the terminals. Ray-O-Vac has some Hyrbid batteries that compete with Sanyo's Eneloop. Eneloops (and the Duracells) are made in Japan, while the Hrybrids are made in China. I guess it's your choice but, I'd much rather support Japan than China. Overall, Eneloops are worth buying.
