Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sanyo Eneloop AA NiMH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries - 4 PackCustomer Review: best alternative for AA batteries at this time Summary: 5 Stars
Hopefully I'll never buy alkaline batteries again. This is the second time I've bought these eneloop batteries and as advertised there was about 85 percent capacity on the batteries after opening the packaging and putting them in my light. Eneloops last almost as long as new alkalines but are rechargeable and hold their charge as opposed to original Ni-MH rechargeable batteries. I also bought Hybrio batteries (which are similar to eneloop but from a different manufacturer) from another retailer but they were dead after I took them out of the packaging and I could not recharge them with the charger that was included. That doesn't mean that other Hybrios or similar slow-discharge rechargeable batteries aren't as good as or better than eneloops, but I feel comfortable with eneloos right now. The only thing I don't like about eneloops is that they take so long to recharge (I think 4 hours for 4 eneloops). The Europeans have passed laws that encourage electronics manufacturers to build battery-powered electronics that can be plugged directly into the wall outlets like cell phones so that they can recharge their batteries. Maybe we Americans should do the same so that the Europeans don't beat our pants off.
Customer Review: No more jumping through hoops with my eneloops Summary: 5 Stars
So, I got me this Sony Cybershot H5 camera, and was on the verge of bankruptcy as I tried to satisfy its two battery per day habit.
I had a couple of another brand of rechargeable battery, but found that I was only getting about 75 pictures per charge, while regular batteries gave me about 200 before giving up the ghost.
Enter the eneloop, which is not only a starkly professional looking battery, but gives me somewhere in the vicinity of 300 photographs on a single charge.
One thing though - when I put them in the camera, the reading showed ¾ charge after about 10 photographs, but maintained that reading for a much longer time than I expected.
Buying this pack of four allows me to keep two in the camera and two on standby on photo shoots, which is more than enough for an amateur photo-take-outerer like myself, plus the savings in battery purchases allows for refreshments afterwards.
I can't say how good they are for any other application, because no one is going to be laying a finger on my eneloops.
Highly recommended for digital cameras.

Customer Review: Excellent product Summary: 5 Stars
Over the years I've gone from ni-cads to energizer style rechargeables and finally, eneloop.
I got very frustrated not being able to have a stock of pre-charged batteries due to self discharge. After all, how are rechargeables useful if you have to recharge for 4-5 hours at the time when you need them? After a week, they are half gone already just from sitting in the drawer.
I took a chance on Eneloop about 2 years ago and never looked back.
I now have about 150 of these in circulation in my home. They are used for literally everything. I even use them in my outdoor wireless weather station located on top of my barn roof. Even those I only have to change them 3 times a year and they are in extreme weather... from 110F summer to -20F in the winter.
My only real complaint is the lack of D and 9v cells, they are not available. However, reading recommendations on Amazon led me to the accuEvolution brand of LSD batteries. I use their 9v and D cells and they are VERY good, I would rate them almost as good as Eneloop.
After 2 years of use and literally over 150 cells, I have not had a single bad Eneloop cell, none have died off or even shown signs of weakening.
Customer Review: Longevity makes up for capacity. Summary: 5 Stars
I use AA batteries in off-camera hot-shoe flashes when I shoot weddings/receptions. I first tried some standard 2500mAh NiMH because they had more capacity. Even if I charged them just a few days before a wedding shoot they seemed to loose any extra charge capacity they had by the day of the wedding. I had many spare packs but it seemed like I was changing out batteries excessively. I was a little skeptical of the Eneloops because they have a capacity of only 2000mAh which is certainly not terrible but less power than my 2500mAh batteries (at least in theory and according to their label). After shooting a reception with Eneloop batteries I am sold. I only had to change batteries once and that was with flash power set to full or ½. It seems to me that although the Eneloops have less initial capacity than some other NiMH batteries the lower self-discharge more than makes up the difference or at least relative to the batteries I was previously using. If you are using multiple sets of batteries I suggest you take a marker and label each set (I.e. set 1, set 2, etc.) and charge/discharge them together. This way each cell in a set will have the same lifespan/number of charges.
Customer Review: Camera savers... Summary: 5 Stars
I got a digital camera a few months ago and was on the verge of condemning it as useless because the batteries would die after as few as 5 pictures. It was rare to get 10 out of them! I had read that a good set of batteries would help, but I thought even twice the life would not do much good. I decided to try a set of these, mostly out of due diligence before putting the camera on some back shelf and trying to forget about how much money I wasted on it.
Well, all that has changed with these. Now the camera lasts at least 100 shots, if not 200-300. I never thought I would see this kind of improvement! Now the camera seems like a great purchase and I don't think I wasted a penny. If you have some electric gadget that eats batteries like there is no tomorrow, give these a try. Don't worry that the mAH rating isn't very high. The power of these batteries is that they keep a high voltage for most of the batter life, instead of dropping down linearly, as most do. So while others might go longer, the operating voltage might drop below what your device needs much quicker than the eneloops would.
I am very happy with these, and will buy more.
