Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sabrent SBT-UPPC USB to Parallel 6-Foot Printer CableCustomer Review: Up and running in no time! Summary: 5 Stars
I was a little apprehensive after reading some of the reviews on this cable. I didn't know the manufacturer, either. However, it functioned just as advertised, straight out of the box. I have an old printer (HP DeskJet 720c) that has a parallel connection on it, and I just bought a new laptop with no parallel ports. I didn't want to bother with a docking station, so I bought this cable. I plugged it in, ran the add printer wizard that popped up in XP as soon as it detected my printer, and have had no problems since. I am thoroughly satisfied.
Customer Review: Sabrent SBT-UPPC USB to Parallel Cable Summary: 5 Stars
This works just as advertised. If you use Windows 7 and have an older parallel printer, this is the only cable for you if you are connecting a printer with a USB port. I have tried others and they simply don't work. I was just about ready to put my LaserJet 4 in the closet but decided to do some more research on cables. If they are not certified for Windows 7 they will not work. It is funny, though, that the Amazon description only indicated Windows 2000 and XP. The Sabrent website indicated it was compatible with Windows 7, however.
Customer Review: Works just fine on Mac Book Pros (Leopard) and HP LaserJet 4P Summary: 5 Stars
This product worked perfectly (printing to an HP LaserJet 4P) for a brand new 15.4" Mac Book Pro and a two year old 17" MBP, both with Leopard. I simply plugged the cable into the USB port on the MBP and then the printer. OS X recognized the printer immediately, and I was able to successfully print several documents. It was unnecessary to load the drivers that came on the mini-CD which ships with the cable (thankfully, since it wouldn't have worked in the slot-loading CD/DVD drive, anyhow.)
I'm a happy customer.
Customer Review: It connects to more than advertised! Summary: 5 Stars
I was unsure of whether to purchase this product when I saw that my printer (HP Deskjet 712C) was not on the list put out by the manufacturer but after reading some others' reviews, I tried it anyway because the price was right. It may look a little cheesy but it works. I didn't even need the CD that comes with it in order to use the product. I just plugged it in to my printer and then into my new Dell laptop and it worked. I think I may have had to restart and add my printer but that was it. Very good product!
Customer Review: Perfect. Just Perfect. Summary: 5 Stars
I bought an old and inexpensive HP Laserjet 4 Plus for a charity auction, and I to hook it up to a newer desktop PC that has no parallel port. This cable worked perfectly and I didn't even need to run the CD that came with it. My PC (HP Pavilion running Vista) recognized the printer instantly and I was printing right away.
I should warn that this cable is only 6 feet long. If your PC and printer are further than a few feet away, you should consider getting a USB extension cable.
