Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sabrent SBT-UPPC USB to Parallel 6-Foot Printer Cable

Customer Review: USB to Parallel conversion cord
Summary: 5 Stars

My new motherboard didn't have any sockets for the Parallel port built into the board. Rather than order the associated parts for the port mounted on a backplane slot cover I ordered this cord as I have a lot of USB ports available.

I couldn't get the Win7 computer to recognize the connection so I went into the control panel and told it to search for new hardware - BAM it found it and has been working flawlessly for several weeks now. You can also go into printers and devices and add a printer which causes it to search for connected printers and it will make the connection.

Always physically do the search for new hardware when you change connections if the USB system doesn't see your connection.

Works great!

Customer Review: HP 697C & Windows Version 7 working
Summary: 5 Stars

Purchased this item to connect to an HP 697C printer from
a new PC that did not have any parallel ports. After reading
the reviews, was very concerned with such products working with
Windows Version 7, decided on the Sabrent. After plugging in
the cable, the software was automatically installed and identified
the 697C as a 690. Did not have to use the CD included at all.
Tried to do a test page, did not work well. Went in the printer
wizard, changed to the HP 697C, rebooted, and all works very well.
I'm very happy with the performance, quality, and overall price.
Highly recommended considering it was way to easy to get it running
with Windows Version 7.

Customer Review: Worked perfectly, easy setup
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this cable to print on my Canon 850i printer from my new Dell laptop with Windows XP. I plugged the cable into the printer, plugged the USB connector into the laptop, turned on the printer and Windows immediately recognized the printer. After installing the drivers from the printer CD I was printing within minutes. Couldn't have been easier. This is an excellent solution if you have a perfectly good printer that you can't connect via a parallel cable.

Only negative comment is the printer is 5', not 6' as advertised on Amazon. I think that is Amazon's misrepresentation, not the manufacturer's; the product packaging itself does not claim that the cable is 6'.

Customer Review: Just what i needed
Summary: 5 Stars

After purchasing a new HP laptop with Windows Vista, I needed a way to connect an old, reliable Epson Stylus Color 640 printer. This cable was just what I needed.
After months of trouble and the computer not recognizing my printer whenever I connected the two, and spending an hour each time on the problem before it would mysteriously start working, I found that I needed to have the Epson printer turned off before connecting it to the computer. This is something I do not have to do with my HP Officejet, so I did not originally consider that the problem. Since I've "discovered" this, it's worked perfectly and has been immediately recognized every time I've plugged it in.

Customer Review: Works as advertised for me...
Summary: 5 Stars

I recently upgraded to a motherboard that didn't come with an on-board parallel port. That was a slight problem since I use an old Apple LaserWriter Select 360 as my printer and still wanted to use it with this new motherboard. I was looking for a parallel-to-usb cable and came across this one and decided to try it out. Installation was a breeze. I plugged it into one of my usb ports and Windows XP Pro SP2 immediately recognized and installed the drivers for me. I then had to change the printer preference so that it would use the "usb port" instead of the usual LPT1 port for parallel port. I am happy to say that I can still use my trusty Apple LaserWriter with my Windows PC.
