Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sabrent SBT-UPPC USB to Parallel 6-Foot Printer CableCustomer Review: Worked for me! Connected HP Laserjet 4L to Macbook Pro!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Great seller! Low price, fast ship and well packaged.
I was about to donate my beloved HP Laserjet 4L when I came across this cable while browsing on Amazon. I was tired of paying the high replacement prices for inkjet cartridges. I wanted a cable to connect my new MacBook Pro.
I live in the SF Bay Area (Silicon Valley), and my technical friends and family told me this couldn't be easily done. (Note: I am a do-it-yourselfer, and logical thinker, but not an engineering type in anyway.)
For the price, I figured I'd give it a try. The cable looks whimpy compared to the HP cable. At first the serial side didn't fit, and I fiddled around with it. Eventually, I was able to connect the cable. I downloaded the printer drivers off of the HP website. Installed it. Rebooted the computer, and the Mac OS X immediately recognized the Laserjet. I ran a few test jobs, and it worked. Yeah!
Customer Review: Work fine with HP5P Laser Printer.. Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this cable to use with my old HP 5P printer after my old desktop conked out. All of my laptops have no parallel port, and this seemed the quickest and cheapest solution for me. I picked this cable bacause of its silver shielding, it looks flexible.
Got the cable, plug it in and wait about a minute for Vista to load the driver. Then the printer appeared in the printer list and that was it. Painless. Really worked, despite of a couple of bad reviews that gave me pause.
The only bad thing is there is no manual that comes with the cable and nowhere, enven manufactor's website, that I can find if my printer is compatible. So if you have a HP 5P LaserJet and need this cable, go for it. It worked for me. There is a driver cd that was included in the box, but I don't need it. Guess if I run Windows 98 then I will.
Customer Review: Sabrient Parallel to USB Printer Cable with HP DeskJet 820Cse Summary: 5 Stars
The cable was delivered promptly and it works great with my old HP DeskJet 820Cse. Before buying the cable, I did some research and knew I needed a patch from HP for my particular printer (HP DeskJet 820Cse); Here's the link -- >

The only small glitch I had was with Windows 7... it initially indicated:
The drivers for your HP product are already included in the new Windows 7 operating system! You do not need to download drivers to use the product. Keep reading to learn how to install the drivers that are included in Windows 7 (in-OS drivers) with your HP product.
However, since my printer wasn't working, I eventually installed the specific driver for my "HP DeskJet 820Cse" printer and was excited to see that my printer was now working with my new Windows 7 PC.
Customer Review: Works Perfect Summary: 5 Stars
My HP LaserJet 6MP is hooked up simultaneously to a Mac G3 300 (OS 9.2, via AppleTalk) and a desktop Mac (OS 10.4.11) via the Sabrent USB/parallel connector -- no ethernet network, no dedicated print server or bridge (although all the hardware is plugged into an APC Back-UPS RS-1500).
The 6MP prints from both computers, back and forth, as though it were designed to.
Setup on the OS 10 machine was almost nonexistent -- first make AppleTalk active in the Network System Preference (a checkbox within the AppleTalk tab), shut down everything, then connect the adapter cable. Restart, open the Print & Fax System Preference, and the HP 6MP is already there, checked and active. Good to go!
Note: The above won't work with Snow Leopard OS 10.6, it dropped the AppleTalk configuration.
Customer Review: well worth the money Summary: 5 Stars
You never know. .. I had ordered 3 of these cables on a previous order, but canceled them later upon reading a couple of the reviews on the ability of the cable to work with certain printers. Still needing a cable, I went to Walmart and bought one cable for 21 dollars (a Belkin cable). It worked ok, but not with both of my printers. Upon making a second order, I included two of these cables from Amazon at about $ 8.60 each. I figured they could not be any worse than the 21 dollar Belkin. As it turns out, the Amazon cables work flawlessly with my 4050 and 2010 HP laser printers. I returned the Belkin cable to Walmart and feel good about the cables from Amazon which work flawlessly. They configure well and work with out delay or lag. I certainly am happy with my bargain purchase. Happy shopping, Pag
