Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Razer DeathAdder 3G Infrared Gaming Mouse

Customer Review: first-time Razer buyer
Summary: 5 Stars

This was my first Razer product purchase. I bought the Death Adder mouse, just to try something different. I've been using a Logitech G5 for a couple of years now, and have really liked it, but several of my gaming buddies swear by Razer mice and suggested I try one, that there really was a difference. The Death Adder is a nice mouse, and I am happy with how it works and how it fits my hand. The tracking may be slightly more accurate than the G5, in spite of the lower DPI resolution and lack of a laser, the 3G sensor works very well, especially in twitch games (FPS), where you make very fast and snappy movements. I've only had it a few weeks now, but happy so far. Hopefully, the reliability will be as good as my Logitech G5 has been, in spite of varied reports I've read, that the Razer mice sometimes just die mysteriously.

Customer Review: Best. Mouse. Ever.

From PlayingWithMyWeiner.com:

[Note: This review concerns the PAX '08 Special Edition, which is the same mouse with a Penny Arcade paint job.]

The DeathAdder is like butter. Within seconds of plugging it in I was experiencing the silkiest, smoothest mousing experience of my life. It had better be, with a 1800dpi Razer Precision(tm) 3G infrared sensor and a 1ms response (compared with 8ms for standard mice). This thing has pinpoint accuracy, and its almost a waste to be clicking on lootable bodies rather than fragging the heck out of some sucker in TF2.

Again, the form factor is nice. The DeathAdder is a little larger than the Revolution, but not overwhelmingly so. The cord is 210cm long, so I never feel that I'm pulling at it. If anything, it may be a little too long, because I had to find a place to tuck it out of the way. The exclusive PAX `08 paintjob isn't really that great looking, but there were only 400 made and I got one, so the smug feeling of dork accomplishment compensates for the bowling shoes design. This is my desktop mouse of choice.

In the end, it really does come down to the right mouse for the right job. For high-tension gaming, particularly in a desktop setting where mobility isn't a factor, it's going to be the DeathAdder every time.

Customer Review: perfect mouse for the non-gamer
Summary: 5 Stars

I Don't game.

I got this mouse after seeing a promo on Youtube. It looked like a really good mouse and it looked really cool (I'm 51 and I need all the help I can get) I don't game at all, I have had many cheap mice and my sister was visiting on Christmas and bought me an expensive Logitech mouse because she was disgusted with my current mouse. After using the Logitech I saw what a big difference a good mouse makes.

The first few days with the Death Adder I thought it inferior to the Logitech because the Logitech really fit the hand so much better, and the extreme light weight of the Adder seemed cheap, and seemed way too sensitive; but after changing my grip on the Adder, not resting my hand on it like the ergonomic Logitech, and using my fingers, I found the Adder to be far superior to the Logitech after all. Hands down, this mouse beats the Logitech, and that also is a really good mouse. Just the tinyest, lightest finger movements place the curser with real precision with absolutely no effort.

I wouldn't have thought I would have a strong opinion about a mouse, but it really is a must have. The worth far exceeds the price and it is head and shoulders above and better than my high quality (but slightly cheaper) Logitech

Customer Review: Awesome right hand mouse
Summary: 4 Stars

Very comfortable to hold, performance is great, movement is very smooth, i am loving it. I also have a copperhead but the grip i get on this mouse i simply the best to all those i have used till date.

Customer Review: Fine mouse, but works only on certain type of surfaces.
Summary: 4 Stars

This mouse, compare with its brethren, are as good, if not better. From ergo standpoint, its hand molded design is welcoming for long period of use. In addition, the top surface is similar to Lachesis's rich, rubbery texture, so it doesn't slip and feels like an expensive equipment.

The only drawback is this: because it's based on infrared technology, it doesn't track on certain type of surfaces. Specially with light color or very smooth surface where infrared fares less well in detecting surface imperfections than lazer technology. I noticed this because I have Lachesis, copperhead and DeathAdder. My 'mouse pad' is a hardcover book with areas that is very light in color; Lachesis and Copperhead works fine on that book, but DeathAdder will lose it's traction in certain areas of the book.

This is minor details for those that may use unconventional, smooth surface as their mouse pad. Other than this minor point, if you can do without the additional buttons for adjusting sensitivity and profiles than you are going to be fine.
