Customer Review: A Excellent Buy For The Money.

This is an excellent entry-level backdrop kit. If you are thinking of getting a backdrop kit for taking portraits, this is an excellent buy.
The only thing that feels flimsy are the two carrying bags for the muslins.
But you should not store your muslins in them anyway because you will end up with a pattern of 14" x 16" rectangular creases on
the whole thing. It is better to either hang them permanently from the crossbar if you studio is in one place. Or if you take
this kit on location, you can store the muslins as big balls in a clean garbage bag, at least you will end up with random creases
which will look better than a rectangular pattern. If you have the space, buy two (10 feet long x 2 inches diameter) PVC pipes
and roll the muslins in them. The creasing will be minimum.
The muslins themselves are not real heavy cotton, but they are of good quality. I found that the white one feels more thin than the
black one. I would compare the thickness of the white as a heavy bed sheet, but this does not mean that the material is sheer or flimsy.
You will not see what is behind the white one once is hanging from the crossbar.

26 JAN 2011 UPDATE: Be very careful when putting the crossbars sections together. If you force them, they will lock permanently.
If was rushing during a recent photoshoot, and in a hurry, I forced one section into another. Now I can not take them apart.
The kit is still usable, but I lost the portability factor because the two sections stuck together are to big to carry them in the included bag.

Ravelli Backdrop Stand
The Ravelli Model ABS model background stand is 10' tall by 12.3' wide. It is comprised of two tripod stands and four 3' cross bar sections and includes a heavy duty carry bag. The four cross bar sections allow for the stand to be set up in 6', 9' or full 12' widths. The cross bar interconnects are 6", the longest on the market, providing ample support for heavier backdrops. The tripod stands use air cushioned shocks, instead of spring shocks, allowing the fully extended stands to smoothly and safely collapse to their minimum height. The material on the stand bag is very heavy duty 1680D weight ballistic nylon and the zipper is 8mm white copper metal. The stand also features large ergonomic tension screws, individual elastic straps for each cross bar sections in the bag, and end caps for the crossbar to prevent tearing of your backdrops.
Prism Backdrops
The backdrops are made by Prism and are professional muslin backdrops made from a heavier 100% cotton material. The 10X12' size (actually 9X18.2' after shrinkage) weighs 4.6lbs. Special dyes are used to obtain well saturated colors which appear vibrant and not washed out. All sides are stitched to avoid unravelling and a 3.4" rod pocket is sewn into the top. Each muslin is folded and comes in a plastic bag to avoid moisture and stainage and then packed in a cardboard box for shipping.
