Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of RF-Link AVS-5811 5.8GHz Audio and Video Transmission System with IR RepeaterCustomer Review: Fantastic! Summary: 5 Stars
Read the reviews and they seemed positive. We've had a Radio Shack transmitter for about 5 or 6 years, and it was awful. Prone to interferance, was useless when the microwave oven was on, etc. This system is absolutely fantastic! We use it to transmit from the family room to the kitchen. The TV in the kitchen is literally under the microwave oven, and next to the cordless phone. Not ONE bit of interferance. No lines, no hums, no noises, nothing. It's a crystal clear picture, sound is great too. Haven't yet taken the time to set up the IR mouse, but as others said, directions on this are scanty. Will go back through the reviews to figure htis out further.
As to aligning the two units (sender / receiver), they aer roughly pointed in the same direction, and that's it. No fiddling at all, just plug and play from the video feed box.
Highly recommend it!
Customer Review: Excellent Summary: 5 Stars
Had previously used a 2.4GHz system to transmit my Direct TV signal from the 2nd floor to the 1st floor in my home. The flaw was constant interference in one part of the house and, lately, increasingly intermittent interference in the closest part of the 1st floor to the transmitter. This interference ripped up the picture and turned the audio into a loud annoying buzz. The 5.8 GHz system encounters no interference at all. The microwave oven does not affect it. The microwave oven completely destroyed the 2.4 GHz signal. The new system does react when I use the 5.8GHz cordless phone, but barely. The phone's impact on the TV picture consists of an almost imperceptible line on the picture and no sound interference at all. The IR repeater works as advertised and the switch for changing the system's own channels is easy to use, though it hasn't been necessary for me to use it yet.
Customer Review: Easy to Use-Doesn't interfere w Phones Summary: 5 Stars
I had previously purchased a 2.4 Ghz cordless video transmitter system and it did not work with our 2.4 Ghz cordless phones or microwave oven. This device transmits our living room Dish Network satellite picture and stereo sound to the kitchen TV about 50' away with one intervening wall perfectly. Picture sometimes breaks up when you walk thru the "Beam" between transmitter and receiver antennas but otherwise it seems to work flawlessly. Your source TV or tuner must have RCA type video and audio outputs and the TV you are transmitting to needs to have at least one set RCA type video and stereo audio inputs. Unit comes with two RCA type video/stereo audio cables.
Note: I did order mine from Amazon and DID get both units-transmitter and receiver so previous comments about receiving only one of the two units in the set from Amazon apparently have been resolved.
Customer Review: Great Value - Works! Summary: 5 Stars
Just purchased this product to send living room (cable) TV to my 23" HDTV on my garage work bench, which is hooked up to an indoor antenna. Well, I'm surprised how well it transmitted the HD video and audio through 2 walls about 40 feet away to my little garage TV, using its AV input. So, I still have over-the-air reception, and HD reception from my living room cable/DVR unit - completely flexible. I'm very well pleased. ONE DRAWBACK: The HD video transmitted to my garage TV is only in 480p, resulting in a reduced size picture - does NOT transmit 1080i for some reason...but the audio is awesome. This may be due to the cable box/DVR output (video out) setting but I'm still investigating. Nonetheless, as long as you line up the units, point to point, video and sound are almost perfect, and no interference with my wireless 5.8 Gig phones or my home wireless (G/N) network.
Customer Review: Who Could Ask for More! Summary: 5 Stars
I've been trying to figure out how to get video into our bathroom for 2 years. there was no good way to run a new cable without major construction. A relative told me about wireless so I investigated and found this unit. I have a wireless computer network plus wireless phones so I wanted to make sure things wouldn't interfere. This setup seemed to meet the need. (higher freq than the computer and lower than my phones) It took all of ten minutes to hook everything up and bang, I had TV in the bathroom. The remote works and everything. Exactly as advertised. The picture is great and the sound is just fine. I always read the negative reviews before I order on line and I can't believe anyone has a problem with this gear. All I can figure is they didn't do the homework to assure they won't have a problem with some other device in their home.
