Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of RF-Link AVS-5811 5.8GHz Audio and Video Transmission System with IR RepeaterCustomer Review: Excelent Product Summary: 5 Stars
The RF-Link AVS-5811 5.8GHz Audio and Video Transmission System with IR Repeater is an excellent product that does everything the 5-star reviews say it does. I used it to add a wireless link from a Dish Network Vip 622 PVR to an upstairs color TV. The picture and sound are excellent and the IR link back to the Dish Network PVR works great. The color picture is better than I previously received fron cable! I bought a new Dish Network remote (to use with the AVS-5811) RF-Link AVS-5811 5.8GHz Audio and Video Transmission System with IR Repeaterthat can be used either in IR or RF modes. In this case I used the IR mode. (Dish allows only one RF remote, but you can use two IR remotes -- my other IR remote is in the family room and RF remote is in the dinette) The only time we do not get a perfect picture is when someone walks through the AVS-5811 RF beam (and the interruption is only slight and momentary). The RF-Link AVS-5811 5.8GHz Audio and Video Transmission System with IR Repeater is recommended highly.
Customer Review: Just what I needed... Summary: 5 Stars
I wasn't sure if this type of product even existed when I started looking for them on Amazon. After comparing several other brands to this one, I decided that this was the superior product. It is the only one that I saw on the 5.8 Ghz band. This is great if you have a wireless router or phone on the 2.4 Ghz band and are worried about interference. Mine transmits its signal from the satellite reciever in the living room from behind a shelf of CD's, and through four walls before it reaches the reciever in my bedroom. A distance of roughly 35 feet. It has a very sharp picture; however, I have noticed a bit of linear ghosting especially when text is displayed. Just like you see when you are receiving broadcasted television signals. It is a minor problem though, and I don't really notice it anymore. There were also a few times when I couldn't get the remote transmitter to work good, but as soon as I readjusted it's seperate antenna so that it wasn't directly in line with the A/V antenna it worked great. The receiver/transmitter are very well contructed. I highly recommend this over other products.
Customer Review: Fit my needs perfectly Summary: 5 Stars
While I don't usually put in a review, this works so well for me that I had to put it in.
Moving into a new house it seemed that all the cable was in the wrong place for me, and having no basement meant either major work or stringing visible cable to having the TV's where I wanted them.
Since I have several VCR's I was able to connect the transmitter side to a VCR on cable in one room, and then connect the receiver side to a TV in another. There are two walls and probably about twenty feet between them. The picture and sound are as clear as if I had connected it directly through cable. It is interesting how the infrared sender will send commands from a remote in one room to the VCR in another.
The only time I had a problem is when I put the receiver end down on the table next to the TV with the TV between the two ends. I moved the receiver end to the other side of the TV and all is fine.
I have 5.8gHz phones at home as well as a cell tower within 100 yards of my home. I get no interference in the TV system.
Customer Review: Makeshift Solution For Temperamental Remote Extender Summary: 5 Stars
The audio/video transmits well and I dont have any problems with interference unless someone walks in front of the receiver, which isn't a very big deal. I spent a while playing with the remote extender, readjusting the location of the IR repeater and the antennas with no luck getting it to work... after playing around for a long while it would work for a while and then stop. I noticed that when I tried to change the channel with my hand on the receivers antenna, it made it work. There may be a better and more attractive way to correct this problem, but I wound up extending the receiver antennas range with a long, crumpled up piece of aluminum foil that is wrapped around the antenna and havent had a problem since. The foil doesnt have to be sticking straight up in the air or anything... I have the antenna pointing backwards and the long piece of foil mostly out of sight. For those of you who want it to look cleaner, I would imagine you could go to radio shack and purchase a better replacement antenna and that would work also.
Customer Review: Buy One Now Summary: 5 Stars
I have to tell you I was some what skeptical about how good the picture quality would be when I opened the box and began the installation process. I hooked it up to the HD Scientific Atlantic cable box in the living room and plugged the power in and aimed the antenna in the general direction of the kitchen. I then connected it to the 20 inch LG television and aimed that antenna in the general direction and plugged it in. WOW, picture and sound quality are spectacular. Set up time took 5 minutes, no alignment or tweaking was required. The signal travels through 3 walls and the receiver is right next to a cordless phone. Our cable company stopped the analog signal and a digital cable box is required for each television in the house (at additional cost for each box, of course), I was unwilling to pay a monthly fee to the cable company for service to a television that is only watched 20 or 30 minutes a day for weather and news while the family gets ready in the morning. This is the perfect solution for my problem.
