Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Ultra High Performance HDMI Switcher, 3to1 Switch

Customer Review: Fantastic Device, Low Price
Summary: 5 Stars

I was looking for a device to allow me to connect 3 devices to my TV with only 2 HDMI inputs (PC, Tivo, DVD player), without too much hassle. After searching and finding more expensive options I came across this product and saw glowing reviews. I pulled the trigger and received it quickly. The unit is ridiculously small, it came with accessories I wouldn't expect in a device this inexpensive including a remote and IR receiver. Doesn't come with an A/C adapter but it's not needed. The biggest draw to me, besides hoping it worked flawlessly, was the intelligent feature where was supposed to detect a new signal through another HDMI input and automatically switch over to the other input, and then switch back when the other device is powered off. This works every single time, effectively making my life easier and avoiding yet another remote in the mix. My wife gets up every other morning at 5:30am to work out and if I don't have to worry about her being able to switch to the DVD player at that time it's well worth the price (even if was $25 more). Great product, great features, works flawlessly - what else is there? I usually don't write reviews but I felt I needed to let people know how good this product is.

Customer Review: Does as expected! Great value for the money!
Summary: 5 Stars

This item is a great value. I was a little skeptical when first purchasing based on previous reviews. Granted, the user guide is about the size of matchbook, and, there is no power supply as outlined in the user guide. However, you don't need the power supply, or, the infrared receiver, or, the remote. (It even comes with a brand new watch battery inside the remote that you don't need. Consider that a bonus!) Just hook this puppy up with your "constant on" device ie:Tivo in the Switch 2 or Switch 3 position, and your "sometimes on" device ie:BluRay player, PS3, Xbox, etc. in the Switch 1 position and you're all set. When the "always on" device is connected, you see that device onscreen. When you turn on your "sometimes on" device, the switch routes to the that "sometimes on" device. When you power off the "sometimes on" device, it automatically switches back to the "always on" device. [There is a slight delay of about 7 seconds in the audio switching back to the "always on" device.] Other than that, there's nothing to do but sit back, relax, and enjoy your content.

The only downside was delayed shipping. Took almost 2 weeks for delivery; probably from China. I guess a slow boat is a slow boat...

Customer Review: Unbeatable value for an HDMI switch!
Summary: 5 Stars

Frankly, this is one of the best purchases I've made for accessories for my home theater setup. The switch's documentation is a touch unclear, but the item really is simplicity itself. It does come with a power adapter which you can use if there's any issues with the signal not being passed on, but most setups will NOT need this. The switch is automatic and works seamlessly to switch between three HDMI devices. I have my digital cable box hooked up to it in addition to a PS3 and XBOX 360 - the cable box, being on all the time, I have in the lowest priority input. When the game consoles are off, this one is sending the signal to the TV. However, all you need to do is turn on the PS3 or the XBOX and the system will automatically switch to them, and switch back to the cable box when you turn off the game systems. No fuss. If you do not want to use automatic switching or it doesn't work, for whatever reason, there is a manual switch and a remote control that lets you select the appropriate input. The signal quality is not appreciably degraded from any devices I have. This works excellent, is easy to set up and use, and is far less expensive than most of the alternatives - a no brainer.

Customer Review: Score!!!

This works great. I ran out of HDMI and Digital Audio (Toslink) inputs on my 5-year old Denon Receiver. I needed a solution where I can have Apple TV 2 and Xbox 360 share an input. I simply plugged them into this HDMI switch and it detects where the signal is coming from and plays the source. If both Devices are on, it plays Xbox but as soon as I turn off xbox it plays Apple TV 2. This is perfect as ATV is on standby all the time and only when I need Xbox does it go offline.

The second part of my need was Digital Audio (Toslink) switch, as both Xbox 360 and Apple TV 2 have Digital Audio Output. I basically needed an audio switch that would operate just like this HDMI switch. The solution was this little baby: Optical Splitter. It was designed (and is sold as) a splitter, to send a single audio output to two devices. But it works the other way too--as a switch--routing the signal from one of two devices into a single receiver.

Together these two, simple, idiot-proof devices work like a charm! Good luck. I hope this helps.

Customer Review: Great Product! Price Can't Be Beat!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a great little product especially for the price. I wasn't sure when I first received it because it does have a very light, cheap, plastic feel to it. It includes no cables or power supply. The only included accessory is an IR dongle and remote for switching connections. For me, the power supply is not needed, it works fine without it. I don't use the IR dongle or remote, so I'm not sure if the power supply is necessary to power that or not. Everything worked the seconded I connected the HDMI cables. The feature that I like best about this, and allows me to do away with the included remote, is its ability to prioritze connections. If a connected device is turned off, it automatically defaults the switch to the next device. Connection 1 receives first priority and 3 is last. So for me, I have an xbox 360 on 1, an Apple TV on 2, and a Roku on 3. If I want, to watch the Roku, I just make sure that the xbox and Apple TV are off. If I want to switch to Apple TV, I just turn it on and the switch automatically changes. Same goes for xbox. This is exactly what I needed and the price can't be beat. Perfectly suits my needs.
