Customer Review: The Best Switcher on the Market

In life there are only a few true bargains and I'm pleased to say that this is one of them. My story starts out with a purchase of a manual switcher at a major retailer. I ran home with my $29.99 purchase and gently depressed the button once only to have the buttons jam. I dutifully contacted the manufacturer and learned these items were manufactured incorrectly and to please return it back to the retailer for another one. Rather than take a chance on a second unit - I consulted Amazon and learned from my fellow consumers and purchased one of these items instead.
This thing worked immediately - and at a third of the price. It actually senses the signal and switches for your rather than you getting up to change devices. This item should be in the retailers store instead of the devices that fail right out of the box. The signals from two gaming systems work without a hitch. The configuration I'm currently working with is that I have an X box and a Sony P3 Playstation and one empty port. It all works and life is good!!!
So the Moral of this story is that if you have a HDTV with only one or two HDMI ports - don't sweat it . Get one of these and your single HDMI port now instantly becomes three (3). Plus you will save wear and tear by not plugging and unplugging on those fragile HDMI ports. Good luck!!!!

I have this patched to my laptop and surround sound system with a 33 feet hdmi cable and to my dish network box which feeds all time even in off mode but I discoved that when I plug it in first and then my laptop to watch a movie and then when finished just unplug cable to laptop due to fact that I only use hdmi cable just to watch movies from netflex it will always go back to first port plugged in and switches to laptop as soon as I plug it in so I dont have to use remote or manual button on switchbox this switch box also must have enough boost that now when during watching movie from internet I dont get the internet connection has slowed and adjusting as I did before this switch box I believe it has helped that because of the boost it must have. I say if you want a switch box ths is the one and for sure for the price you can't go wrong. This box does all I want it to and at a better expectation than I wanted. I knew the dish always had live feed and figured I would always would use remote or just use the button on switcher which would be no big deal but it knows as soon as laptop is connected and goes to that port and as soon as I disconnect laptop it goes back to dish port. WOW this switcher is great. Look no farther and get this. If you only need 3 ports which is plenty for me. But I have seen this same one with 5 ports.Customer Review: just what i needed !!

this works perfect! i needed a 3 hdmi in and one out. what i use for my home theater set up is:
samsung ht-bd1250 blu-ray home theater in a box (even after reading all the firmware problems i still pulled the trigger on this one.. works great!)
toshiba hd-a20 hd dvd player
samsung dtb-h260f hdtv receiver
mitsubishi hc4900 hd projector (only one hdmi input)
logitech harmony 720 universal remote
i use the ht-bd1250 for sound with its 2 optical inputs but need a way that i could send all the video to the one hdmi input on my projector. this little hdmi switch works better than expected. shouldnt really be surprised because of all the positive reviews but still... works like a charm.
did not need to program the logitech remote to switch between the hdmi inputs either. i have the hd-bd1250 plugged into the 3rd hdmi input so when im using either the hd dvd player (2nd) or receiver (1st) the hdmi switch does the work for me. so far not one problem... using it extensively over a week now.
if you need a 3 to 1 hdmi switch... this one is inexpensive and works fantastic. pull the trigger yourself!!

I don't normally add reviews for products on Amazon, but I loved how easy it was to go from unpacking the switch to using it and I loved the design and thought put into it. Couple of things that might help if you are comparison shopping.
PROS
1. Unlike some of the other HDMI switches out there, this product does not need an extra power supply and is able to draw from the HDMI cable. One less power cable.
2. The smart switching works as described and lives up to it's claims. I currently have a roku on priority 2 & a playstation on priority 1. If you have 2 devices that are always on, the Smart switch is not going work and you'll have to rely on the remote. However, if you just have 1 device that is always on (the roku in my case), just ensure that that device has the lowest priority amongst all devices connected to the switch.
3. I also like that it is small enough that it can tucked away behind the TV and not add to the clutter.
4. Price point! Nothing else comes even close at triple the price point of this switch!
CONS
1. If you have 2 devices that are always on, the Smart switch is not going work as desired and you will have to rely on the remote. A Cable box and a roku is probably a common combination that will hit this issue.

This product replaced an IOGear 4-port HDMI switch GHDMIAS4 which costs $90 and no longer works properly after 8 months of use. IOGear is a waste of money. I've learned my lesson that a cheaper costing product is better in quality than one that costs 4x as much.
This $13 (purchase price as of July 2009) 3-port HDMI switch is much better than the IOGear. I've never had any problems using this product -- works as advertised. One thing to note is the order of precedence port 1 > 2 > 3 on the switch ports in order for the automatic switch feature to work properly. To this day, I have not had to use the included remote control and IR receiver.
In my setup, port 3 is a Mac Mini HTPC running Plex, port 2 is a PS3/BD player and port 1 is an Xbox360. The Mac Mini and the game consoles provides power to the HDMI switch when turned on. As long as the game consoles are powered off, the default signal to use is the Mac Mini. If both game consoles are turned on, the Xbox signal will take precedence before the PS3.
As a result of buying this HDMI switch, I will no longer buy any more IOGear products and will not hesitate and recommend to others to purchase one of these 3-port HDMI switches. They just work (and continues to work for over a year now).
