Customer Review: Great product - but needs a few design updates?

Sound - The sound is very good on this portable speaker case for your MP3 player.
Protection - The protection it offers for your ipod is very good as well.
Convenience - is okay. This is not going to fit into your pocket. It might fit your coat pocket.
If it was smaller, though, it wouldn't sound very good. I am very pleased with the sound quality and usually can find a way to carry it where I want to use it. Size is about like a very thick small paperback book.
Power - A couple design flaws that don't bother me much - it has no AC power option. But batteries last 30 hours so it isn't a big deal.
Speaker protection - Also, the front grille is not very protective of the foil like speakers. I put my case in a basket and the magnet atracted a new paperclip (rounded) that made a dent in one of the speakers. They need a better grille.
And did I mention the sound? It sounds great!

Customer Review: Exceeds all expectations

It's not often that something exceeds my expectations. Well, the iMaingo certainly has. In the past two years, I have purchased several so called portable speaker systems from the folding speaker system from CTA to the Logitech mm32. All of the other systems purchased were either not so portable and/or poor sound quality. They all lacked clarity at higher sound levels and the low bass sounds. After purchasing the iMaingo, the other systems ended up in their rightful place, the trash.
The iMaingo immediately delivered sound that was both full and clear. The iMaingo has eliminated the need for an FM transmitter or tape playback device in my car. Now, I just use the ipod with the iMaingo in the car, and the batteries last over 30 hours. I find that whenever I have friends over, the iMaingo is the sound system I use. It really does generate the sound to fill a room or backyard picnic.
The biggest problem with the iMaingo is that I have to keep an eye on it, as everyone that gets a chance to hear it wants to steal it. I guess my holiday shopping will be easy this year.

Anyone who has heard this little unit after hearing everything else out there in the portable market who does not give it 5 stars is deluding themselves.
Yes, it has a flaw -- that being the location of the controls. It is a pain to have to completely open the case in order to turn it off or on. I don't know what the manufacturers were thinking on that one.
Forget that. It's the SOUND that is important. This is my third portable. I've giving away the other two. The first time you hook up your iPod and listen to the music...you'll never want to listen to any other portable. I showed it to my husband by playing it, then switching over to one of our other portables. His response? "Can you get me one for my birthday?".
I have the iPod for the music and there are places where earplugs just won't do (they are not allowed at the place where I work) but NOW I can finally listen to a great sound from a portable system that I can take anywhere.

I was pleasantly surprised with these speakers, for the price I wasn't sure what to expect. The sound quality is good and the volume can go up pretty loud. I took it on vacation with me and listened to it for a couple hours each day on a 10 day vacation and only had to charge my ipod nano once (it wasn't even low, but I thought I should charge it anyway) and the batteries are still working great. The only thing I would change if I could is the ease of using the click wheel through the plastic cover - I have one of the new ipod nanos and the click wheel is super easy to use, but in the case it is harder to use it to scroll. I tried an older ipod photo and did not have the same problem, since the wheel is larger I guess. Overall I am extremely happy with the little speakers, especially for the price! It will be great to use in the garage, outdoors, etc. etc. I fully recommend this item!Customer Review: Be Careful buying!!! Be very careful!!!

I recently saw a friend of mine with one of these. It sounded so good that I decided to buy one for myself. When I came to this page, I noticed that J&R is selling for a lot cheaper than Amazon. So I decided to buy it from them. What a disappointment when I received it. I knew there was something wrong, so I went back and bought it again but this time from Amazon.
People be careful!!! The one J&R is selling is not the same product. There is a reason it is cheaper. The page says, the product comes with batteries but the one from J&R didn't. I checked the two part numbers and noticed they are totally different. And most important, the speakers don't sound the same.
DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE LOW PRICE FROM J&R. IT IS NOT THE QUALITY IMAINGO PRODUCT I SAW AT MY FRIEND'S AND NOT THE SAME I USE NOW. THE REAL THING IS AN AWESOME PRODUCT!
