The Plustek 7300 is a great little scanner for salvaging old slides.
I bought this about a week ago and have already scanned some 750 or so slides. Most of my slides are old dating from the early 70's.
The scanner and software was easy to set up and install... took only minutes.
The SilverFast SE plus software has lots of capabilities and is fairly intuitive.
I was not impressed with the Demo presentations of how to use the software however.
But figured most of it out by trial and error... still some I havent figured out
completely... but I was able to salvage each and every slide I scanned even though some were badly faded.

This scanner exceeded my expectations. I had and still have several thousand slides to scan. My slides from the 70's when I lived in Alaska looked better after they were scanned than they did before. The Dust and scratch removal utility did wonders, and combined with my Photoshop Elements and Nikon capture programs, the slides cleaned up beautifully. Compared to other scanners I've used, this scanner worked quickly, even when using the dust removal.
I would recommend this scanner to anyone needing a slide scanner. The price is right and the quality is great.

I PURCHASED BY THE REVIEWS I READ. THIS ITEM IS COMPACT AND DOES WHAT IT SAYS, IT'S NOT THE FASTIEST BUT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO RECOVER ALL THOSE OLD PHOTOS AND SLIDES. I ALSO PURCHASED ADOBE PHOTO SHOP ELEMENTS VER.8 AND VUESCAN SOFTWARE WHICH ARE EASIER TO USE THAN THE SILVERFAST SOFTWARE IT COMES WITH. THIS TAKES A LITTLE LONGER BUT GREAT RESULTS. I was looking for a film scanner as I have a lot of negatives that I need to move to a digital format. This scanner works just as described. My only wish is that I had more than one film holder. I've ordered two extra and I know this will speed things up. I have been using the dust removal and this does add to the scanning time, but overall I feel this is worth the benefit.Customer Review: Great way to retrieve old photos

This scanner works beautifully right out of the box. Very easy to digitize old slides, and have also scanned some old b/w negatives. Very quick and simple operation. Location of digital user manual is not immediately apparent, but is not really needed. I'm pleased, and have pleased others by surprising them with an email containing photos they'd forgotten, or never seen.
