Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Plustek OpticFilm 7200 7200DPI Film Scanner

Customer Review: Exceeds Expectations
Summary: 5 Stars

Like many stated in reviews of this item, I purchased it to process thousands of slides I shot from 1965 on. Have tried several scanners in the past; they work but are slow and difficult to use for slides. The plustek scans one slide at a time, rather quickly, too. In the SilverFast-SE software, be certain to set the 'Output resolution" to at least 1800 dpi for best results when zooming in on a slide after it's loaded into your computer's photo program. That will afford good detail resolution. I'd buy this item again, it's easy to use and fully worth the expense.

Customer Review: First class scanner
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this scanner in desparation to try to save some of my slides. Due to my frequent moves I was not able to store my valuable slides properly and mould had begun to grow on some.
The scanner I found was excellent value for money. It was very easy to set up and use even for a non-techie like me.
The quality of the scanned images surprised me, I did not expect to get such high quality digital images from such a modestly priced scanner.
I am very happy with my purchase and recommend it to any photographer who has slides that need to be archived.

Customer Review: A great find
Summary: 5 Stars

The purchasing of the 7200DPI film scanner was the perfect fit my hundreds of 35mm mounted slides. The learning curve is very user friendly and the recorded pictures are a clone of the originals. This film scanner sure beats the other two slide converters that I have. One a flat bed scanner and the other a Panasonic studio camera with a slide adaptor on the lens.
The 7200DPI presents an excellent color copy and the pictures are very sharp.
Many thanks for a great piece of equipment.

Customer Review: Works Great, Good value for money
Summary: 5 Stars

This scanner is efficiently compact, the software installed smoothly (Windows XP) and works well. SilverFast SE works well; I find it fairly intuitive. As far as adjusting each slide before scanning, the autoadjust normally is sufficient, but the other adjustment options are sometimes needed. The "flip" and "rotate" feature makes it easy to readjust the orientation of the slide so you don't have to actually reset the slide in the frame if you get it in sideways or backwards. Very good value for the money.

Customer Review: excellent little scanner
Summary: 5 Stars

I am scanning slides at 1200 to 1800 dpi, using mostly the default color optimization and corrections on each slide. Some post-editing is required to remove blemishes from dirty slides, but I expected that. The SilverFast software was a little confusing to set up at first, but it works great! I am scanning slides at the rate of 2.5 minutes per slide, including minor touchup on a fraction of the resulting photos.

I am very pleased with this little scanner. The carrying case is a nice extra touch.
