Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Plantronics CT12 2.4 GHz DSS Cordless Headset Phone with Caller ID

Customer Review: Does the job well
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this with fingers crossed after reading some of the previous reviews. In at least one case maybe Plantronics also read the reviews - where I found some complaints regarding the volume of the headset, I found it more than adequate. As for the "problem" of it interfering with the computer, a note included in the package states "should not be used near computer or TV" etc. The whole idea as far as I was concerned was hands free to use the computer while on the phone. Since I don't have a network, just one computer, and the only wireless is the mouse, I have had no problems in that regard. The unit is small, but I had no problem pressing the right keys. Screen a little small - but last phone I had didn't have a screen, so it's still a plus - and I have no trouble reading it even with my old eyes. The over the head headset works fine. The belt clip is pretty useless, but if I move about I just slip the unit into my shirt pocket and hang the headset around my neck. Instructions are good - had no problem setting up numbers/names in memory. In total, am very satisfied with this unit.

I've used CT 10s and now the CT 12 for years. Can't say enough for them. I'm in a business where I like to have my hands free and not be tethered to a wire. At age 65, the volume on the CT 10 (no adjustment) was just getting to low on the listening end. The CT 12, slightly larger than the 10, solved the problem. On "medium" I can hear most people just fine. If I get a "low talker" I click it up a notch which solves the issue. I've never had to use max volume.

The CT 12 is in an area with three phone lines, DSL line, 4 telephones, two computers and a fax machine. It interferes with none of the equipment. The range is at least 60 feet. Headset fits perfectly.

One suggestion: I put the home unit up high on top of a 6' bookcase. It keeps the unit the furthest away from all the other equipment.

The pad buttons are small but that is due to small size of the pad...which is a major advantage.

If you want a phone that is both hands free and can be walked around with, the CT 12 is "da bomb"!

Customer Review: An essential at home
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had this phone for about a year and just love it. Being hands-free while you talk allows you to walk around the house and get other things done. It's gotten to the point that if I pick up the upstairs phone, which is a regular cordless, I'll walk downstairs and tell the person I'm on the phone with that I need to change phones real fast. There are a couple of things that I think the company could do better with the next time around, though: 1. Make it a little harder to pull the headset connector from the base. (It slips out quite easily, so oftentimes if you've stuck the base in your pocket and it starts to fall out, the headset immediately disconnects. It would be nice for it to stay in. However, when this happens, you won't lose your call. You just have to shove the headset cord back into the base and you're good to go.) 2. The memory setting and other features are not at all intuitive. (I don't really use any of them because they're just too annoying to deal with.)

Customer Review: Great for home office
Summary: 5 Stars

When in my home office, I am on the phone 5-7 hours a day. I have tried many combinations of phones and headsets and have never been satisfied with the voice quality. I also run a wireless network and have had problems in the past with 2.4 Ghz phones causing interference. The Plantronics CT12 is the answer to all my problems:

* portable - small belt unit is light, offers great battery life and includes all the features I need
* great headset - sound quality is equal to that of a handset (people do not know you are on a headset); comfortable with two fit options, Firefly function is nice bonus
* Caller-ID - included on belt unit, works as expected
* 2.4 Ghz - range is good, does not cause interference with my wireless network (previous phones from Panasonic and others have)

Only negative is that you cannot answer or otherwise use the phone while it is charging (must remove the belt unit from the charger). All in all, highly recommended.

Customer Review: Highly functional headset phone
Summary: 5 Stars

I found the initial setup was easy if, like most technology, you simply follow the instructions step-by-step. If you're comfortable with the cell phone size keypad you'll have no problem navigating the buttons. Otherwise, you may have an initial adjustment period. Speed dial and phonebook storage features work flawlessly, and the headset sound is clean. Customer service was prompt and efficient when I called concerning how to use the chain dialing feature when calling accounts that prompted my pin numbers.

I don't know why there's so much fuss about the quality of the belt clip when the small remote keypad (three-and-one quarter by two inches) fits comfortably and securely in any shirt, jacket, or pants pocket. Also, I use the phone in close proximity to my wireless Internet connection without the slightest interference.

If there's a downside to this phone, I haven't found it yet based on my needs.

Recommended.
