Thats right kids... My box didnt have an optical cable, extremely upsetting, and some of those pads for the speakers and what not. I unloaded everything, hooked it all up, and gee, no optical. Very upsetting. Other than that the system is great. The speakers are not all that much bigger than Bose cubes, are colored like the 360 and produce incredible sound no matter where you place them. Many modes to choose from make settup great for any speaker formation. The receiving display is about an inch thick and 5 inches wide, and that makes it super easy to hide or put in tight places. People complain about there being too many wires... There are 6 for the speakers, 1 power cord, you SHOULD get an optical, and a connector from receiver to woofer. How is that alot? They are all color coded which makes set up super easy and idiot proof. You can hook up multiple devices, and this helped since without the optical I had to use the RCA jacks for now. The remote is nicely designed and very useful. I did notice that the Bass is not the greatest, and even after adjusting all settings it still wasnt window shaking. It is loud though, no doubt. Pioneer did a great job creating this 5.1 dolby everything system. I have to say the #1 feature is not needing a bulky receiver to produce great digital sound. If I wasnt missing parts, I would say its so great I might have wet my pants.
12 June 07... Pioneer Customer Service was extremely helpful. They only needed a faxed proof of purchase and they put all the missing parts in the mail.

Perfect sound, nice style, and peak tech it is what defines this HT sound system. just for example, the remote control even manage to contol your pc or laptop!.
simple as it is, is a must buy for you Xbox 360.

Good sound for a small area. Its got lots of good features that pricier units lack.
The cables detach from the speakers so you could replace them, except they use special connectors to plug into the amplifier.
The sound is solid enough for games and the system is totally silent on its own.
The AM/FM tuner is just a bonus.
What put this over the top for me (compared to others) was having two optical inputs plus the digital coax plus the stereo in.
Another plus for me is the way the sub is built you could replace the woofer if anything ever happened to it really easily.
The automatic setting with the microphone works pretty well but favors the center channel a bit too much for my taste. This can be tweaked manually.
Its got that cheesy cheapy made in china look and feel.
The bottom end is around 80Hz and it struggles with that.

Okay, for those of you that are "Iffy" on buying this system and haven't decided yet this is the review for you. I am not an Audiophile as some people are when it comes to Sound. But I have had a couple of 5.1 surround setups in my time. So I do know what to expect when listening to a Surround Setup.
This Pioneer setup is by far one of the best I've had. I do have a small room so that might have something to do with it. But I cannot imagine this system not putting out enough power for the average joe like myself.
I actually enjoy playing my games so much more. And I have found myself watching movies more now too LOL Plus it has an extra Digital Port on the receiver. So I hooked up my Cable box (time warner) to it with an Optical Cable. Now Watching TV is a Blast too!
And as far as having control. You have the usual Treble/Bass controls. Then there are of course the usual EQ presets like Movie, Sports etc. But on top of that there are a couple of other cool features like the "Midnight" setting that adjusts all of the EQ settings so that if you are Playing/Watching something late night you will get all of the sound without having to turn up the volume and wake up everyone in the house.
Oh, and one last thing. One of the reasons I did end up getting this system was this. It does NOT come with a DVD player. I know that right now there is a battle between HD-DVD and Blu-Ray. So the cool part is that what ever player I decide to get in the end will not effect the usability of the sytem. I'll just be able to plug it right in and I'm off to the races.
So friends, if you are looking to up the FUN Factor of your Xbox 360 and Movie/TV watching, then this is the system to get. PERIOD!

Hello.
I was in the market for 5.1 sound to go with my Xbox 360. I live in a one room apartment, so I needed a compact, quality system. Nothing to crack the walls, but immersive enough for my rather picky taste.
This HTiB is a great buy. It is easy to put together, set up and listen to as well as being seamlessly integrated into the Xbox 360. How so? Mostly the remote (it has all the DVD and Dashboard buttons you need) plus the display reads "Xbox 360" for one of the optical inputs. Cute and effective. The remote is progamable (power, channel, volume and input)for most tvs too.
All the wires plug right into the back of the subwoofer and the display is slim, so it goes nicely next to the laptop on my desk. Small footprint, as they say. Plenty of sound control too. Everything you would expect from Pioneer.
At $200, this was a great purchase to boost my game enjoyment. I actually got freaked out by a can I kicked in FEAR once. Noises from behind are a bit startling still, but now my character wheels around, not me.
