I bought this USB skype phone to be able to call from any laptop / notebook when I'm not at home and I'm very satisfied.
The sound quality is very good and definitely much better as any headset + microphone I had tested.
For sure you need to have you computer ON and connected to Internet to be able to communicate, but with this low price, it's not a big deal.
So, I could recommend this phone without any restriction.
To complete Skype equipment, for home, I bought a "Belkin F1PP010EN-SK Desktop Internet Phone for Skype". It does not request a computer, only a RJ45 cable connected to Internet. It is also a very good product.

Only had it for a day. Bought it to replace an IPEVO Free-1. Use it for work, international business ocnsultant. Skype's my office phone, so it rings wherever I am. Been using the Philips dual line VOIP phones at home for six months (love them, work great). Now pay $12 per month to Verizon to keep home number (so I dont have to give out my mobile number to people). So far, this Philips product matches the quality of the others I have. By the way, from the Philips website, this is the "new" version of their USB phones (there are older versions on Amazon as well).Customer Review: This is the best

I bought this product to keep in close contact with a very special person who had to leave this country for 3 months. When I call them, there is no difference on this phone, than when I call them from a land line or my cell phone. If you have a loved one in a different country and want to talk to them every day, this is the way to go. We purchased this phone as a first option to use Skype for our calls. It is great. It was simple to set up, with no problems. It works well with Skype and the features Skype offers. Philips VOIP1511B/37 Skype Travel Phoneworks exactly as advertised. We had to go to the internet to find a windows 7 driver. Small enough to carry easily. Large enough to use easily. Cord minder well designed. A keeper!
