I purchased this product (refurbished). Due to all the changes in technology, I wanted something fairly inexpensive to play my DVD's on. Most of my TV equipment is Samsung. However, the reviews on the Philips seemed better for this product. It's not a big deal, but I do agree with other reviews that the DVD tray is very shallow and there is a delay in launching the tray. Philips tech support was helpful in confirming that I needed to update some firmware. This was easy to do. Connection was easy with an HDMI cable. To date, I've had no problems with the unit.
