Just got this and the hook-up was quick and easy. Just a heads-up, if you are buying it for slide shows (load a bunch of jpeg pictures on a CD), this one is not for you. For some strange reason, it takes nearly a minute to load each image during playback. So, I made a CD video of my photos (Photoshop Elements 6.0), and that plays fine. Of course, you can't manually step thru the photos. Anyway, it's a 5-star item for playing DVDs.Customer Review: Wonderful little DVD player for the price.

Anything that comes out of the box and you put it together without instructions and everything works correctly is almost impossible in this day and age. I did this with this DVD player and it seems to work as well as my expensive Sony in the living room that does everything. All I wanted was a bedroom DVD for exercise and watching Netflix movies and it does that just great. It can't be beat for the price. I have no complaints.Customer Review: Fabulous Product and Value

I have had this DVD player for almost 4 months now and it is bang on perfect! I followed the instructions per reviewers here regarding programming it for Region 0 to play my international dvds and as far as hidden controls on the remote. I am completely satisfied. Excellent value for money. Highly recommended.
***Update*** I went bought a 2nd one. I'm very pleased with this product.

I bought this as a multi region unit to play UK dvd's.
The machine is locked to region 1 so and after calling Phillips I was told they this ONLY applies in the US. If you buy it in Canada it is unlocked to all regions.
2 minutes with Google and a simple code entry on the remote and it is now unlocked. NOW its a great deal. No complaints at all apart from the locking silliness.

This dvd player is very simple to use and is very slim. I bought it to replace me old dvd player which quit on me. It appears to be made with quality materials. It was very inexpensive and who really needs a fancy dvd player when blue ray will be taking over soon. I recommend this product for anybody who wants to play a dvd with easy and needs something small and thin.
