This has to be one of the best deals I have ever found on the net. I went with the Free Super Savings shipping and I still received it TEN FULL DAYS before the earliest projected delivery date. I was flabbergasted to find it on my porch waiting for me today. Hooking it up to my HDTV was a breeze. I have only one downside to this player, (I have found this to be an issue with almost every divx capable player) It does not support DTS. But of course you don't exactly find many divx/xvid movies with DTS anyway. I have my XBOX 360 that handles that. This player is awesome. The videos looked great. I had a collection of 6 movies on one DVD and it played all of them flawlessly.
This is such a great deal I am letting my friends and family know about it so they can all buy one. DO NOT MISS THIS DEAL. BUY ONE AS SOON AS YOU HAVE THE MONEY!!!

This was purchased to replace our previous expensive DVD player that was a disaster. So we purposely chose a "cheap" player this time. I didn't want to waste money on another expensive piece of junk. (Our previous model was a different brand.)
Amazingly this one has turned out to be great. It is about as simple as it gets. And very inexpensive. It also plays everything we put in it. Audio CD's, MP3's, DVD, video CD's, etc... Not a lot of bells and whistles but does the basics without flaw. And in the end, when you pop in a DVD, what you really want to do is watch the movie, right? This machine will take care of that job just fine thank you. Inexpensive, reliable, plays virtually everything. What more could you ask for?

I bought this machine for 1 reason - I wanted something I could make multi region (I have a lot of DVD's from the UK and I just don't think it's fair.....blah, blah.). There is a really easy hack on the internet for this machine, and it works.
I'm running the machine on a 32 inch standard def "tube", so I can't advise on how it'll look in Hi-Def, but it looks good enough on "cheapo" TV! Startup time is quick and I've never had a problem with any discs not playing, so as a player it works for me (includes discs I've burned on the PC, but not DIV-X or anything out of the ordinary).
It is very small and light (bordering on flimsy) - but some might see that as a positive too!

Don't be fooled by the price--it may be relatively cheap, but it's not a shoddy player. I've had it since September 07, used it 2-3 days a week, and it's still working perfectly. It's small, sleek, and light. The picture here makes it look shinier than it really is, it's more of a matte (dull) silver, but it still looks nice. It doesn't have fancy features, just the standard buttons, fast forward/rewind, menu, zoom, and setup options.
My only advice is to STOP the DVD before you eject it. If you eject in the middle of play sometimes the picture will glitch up, and that may be why a few of the other reviewers had problems. Other than that one issue, it's been flawless.

When my Sony died I needed a basic player. I didn't want to pay for features I didn't need. So I ordered the Philips based on reviews I read here. What really blew me away is that, when you reset the region code (covered elsewhere here), it will play literally anything! It plays the VCD from Indonesia. It plays the DVD from Australia. It plays every video I've downloaded (like the 1977 AC/DC concert with what looks like Swedish subtitles) and most of them don't even say what the format is.
Oh, yeah. It also plays normal DVD's I've rented from down the street. Which is what I bought it for. And it's dirt cheap. What's not to like?
