Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Philips 9.4-Inch Digital Photo Frame (Metal & Wood)Customer Review: Philips 9.4-Inch Digital Photo Frame Summary: 5 Stars
I don't understand why some people are giving this such a low rating. I love this digital picture frame. I am a photographer, and I am always throwing high resolution images onto it, and it displays them very well. This has very good, sharp detail, and rich color saturation. The battery only lasts about an hour or so, but who really expects anything more? I mean it's basically a computer monitor on a battery, so how long is it expecteed to last? It needs a lot of power. Beside that, using it on a battery would be nice, but who really cares? Unless the battery lasts 5 days without needing a recharge, then who will really use the battery feature? To me, the battery feature is nice, in the case that you want to leave it on, unplug it real fast, to connect to your computer or something, or for general disconnect purposes. But that's about it.
As far as low contrast goes, I think the contrast on it is just fine. When you first start it up, it has very low contrast. Then after it warms up a bit, it does get brighter. Then it gets to where it should be. Also a hint is to get it as flat to you as you can. Mine is set almost directly straight up, not slanted one bit. This is how you get the best of picture and contrast.
One plus to this is the fact that it DOES take sdHC cards. So even if your computer cannot read sdhc (high capacity) cards, all you have to do is put the card into the digital frame, and hook the digital frame up to your computer, and your computer will read it through the frame. This is a pretty big PLUS to me.
One word of advice. If you load a high res image, and the picture shows up choppy, or just not quite right, then use the actual program that comes with the frame to load the images. I always just drag and drop my high resolution images right onto the card, in which most cases it works the best and has the best quality. But in some cases, such as portrait shots, or any shots with people, or faces, they mostly turn out rough. So using the program that comes with the frame to load the images works best in these cases, and the images turn out fine.
Overall, I am very happy with this frame, the quality, the appearance, and everything about it. I would most definitely recommend this to others, and also consider buying again in the future.
