My wife was spending $100 per month on long distance. She also travels outside the country every month and I called her using Skype with a headset on my computer. With this product we now can call long distance within the USA for $30 a YEAR vs what my wife was spending of $1200 a year. I also can call her without being tethered to my computer. I can create a phone directory on Skype using my computer and it downloads automatically to this phone for quicker dialing. This product is so much better than Vontage as there is no monthly fee for out going calls. It also will connect to your local land line to receive calls from anywhere and make local calls. The product paid for itself in the first month.
I also should point out that the DECT 6.0 wireless (cordless) technology is the best on the market. I can take my phone to my neighbor's house and still make and receive calls.

I am relatively new to Skype and decided to purchase a phone after just a few test calls on the internet. I read the reviews for several different phones, and decided to purchase this one. Since this is my first Skype phone I have nothing to compare to, other than making a few Skype calls on my computer; however, I couldn't be happier with my purchase. So far it has been very dependable, call quality has FAR exceeded my expectations. I know Skype gives its disclaimer that it's not a substitute for a home phone due to its incompatibility with 911, but I am ready to drop my home phone service that is costing my nearly $50/month. I would especially recommend this phone to anyone who only has a cell phone and wants to cut down the minutes that they use while at home. At $5/month for phone in & out, Skype is a great deal. I bought this and sent the first one back as defective, it disconnect randomly after a while, the calls could last seconds to minutes.
Like the others with this problem I spent ages trying to fix it, static ip, port forwarding, firmware updates etc; nothing worked.
When the replacement was the same I finally tracked down the problem. You need to set the network speed from 10 to "AUTO". to do it you need to find the ip addrsss of the phone (from the handset menu phone info), open a web browser and type in the ip address where you normally type in a web address. A dialogue box appears and you type in username "philips" and password "voip841"check manual for regional changes to those; go to network settings set speed to 100 or auto. The disconnect problems come when this is set at 10.
Once this was done it has worked flawlessly and saved a fortune.

I really love this phone because it gets me out of the computer. It also makes great calls. I call Europe, South America, Australia, and even Africa once in a while. People say they hear me very clearly. I also get a very clear and crisp sound from the other side of the world. About a week ago when I called my cousin in Australia, she asked me if I was there because the quality of the call was excellent.
So fr, I am very, very satisfied with this phone. It is worth the money because it saves me time as well when I make my overseas calls. Of course, using Skype saves me lots, and lots of money.

I have been using this phone now for a few months. It works great adn people overseas tell me they can hear me just as if I were there. Once in a while I hear myself echo but it is not all the time. I love it because I keep saving money on Skype.

Just bought this system (with 4 handsets total) to replace an aging Motorola system that was hooked up to a Vonage box.
This is just a great system, best home phone system I have ever used. I couldn't be more pleased. I put it in a cupboard where I have a phone line and an ethernet port, and it provides a perfect signal throughout our 4000sf home.
Very easy to configure, and works flawlessly with both landline and Skype. Works just great with SkypeIn and Skype Voicemail. Sooooo much cheaper than Vonage too!
Only minor complaints:
There are only 2 ringtones that I would use out of the many they provide. Most of the ringtones don't sound too cool.
Would be great if it could support more than 4 handsets. I'll get by, but more handsets would be nice.
GREAT phone system overall!!
