Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Philips PHDTV1 Silver Sensor UHF/HDTV Digital Indoor TV AntennaCustomer Review: Cable or Satellite? Just Say No ! Summary: 5 Stars
I have no use for cable or satellite TV so both of my sets just use rabbit ears - until now. I just purchased a "digital ready" 13 inch TV to replace my 25 year old 12 inch black and white set, and bought this digital antenna at the same time. It works great providing you point it the right direction. Once I had it pointed perfectly, I get all stations without further adjustment. And I never realized that many TV station had digital "sub stations" until now. For example, my local PBS station (channel 8) has a total of 4 channels (8.1, 8.2, 8.3, and 8.4), each with different programming. Some of the other channels do similarly. I never knew this, very cool. Now I have something like 2 to 3 times the number stations to choose from, and they all come in very clear and sharp thanks to this inexpensive antenna. Five stars.
Customer Review: If everything worked this well........ Summary: 5 Stars
If everything worked this well our automobiles would last a lifetime.
I purchased the Philips Silver Sensor on the advice of a friend that is actually in the Television business as a technical representative.
"Trust me". he said, "Just connect this thing up and point towards the transmitters and you'll have a clear, clean digital signal".
I connected the Philips Silver Sensor to a digital DVD Recorder that was connected to a small TV. Next I placed the Philips on a top shelf ruffly pointed to where I thought the transmitters were and turned everything on. After programming the channels into the DVD-R everything worked perfectly on the first try!
Clear, clean digital television in under 10 minutes. Great!
Customer Review: Great antenna for a great price Summary: 5 Stars
First I tried an amplified HD antenna from the same manufacturer and I noticed that every so often my picture would freeze and get pixellated. When checking the signal strength meter I noticed that it was getting a good signal and suddenly it would drop and then come back up again. After reading good reviews of the "silver sensor" antenna, I decided to try to find one. It took a little research to determine that this was the actual "silver sensor" antenna. After hooking this thing up, I must say that is a great improvement over the other antenna I tried. Now it is a digital signal, so you can't say the picture is any better when it is working, but with this antenna the signal remained much more constant with less freezing.
Customer Review: The best at what it does Summary: 5 Stars
First off, you have to remember that this is a UHF only antenna. It will not pick up VHF signals and I have read a number of reviews where people marked it down for not pulling in VHF.
I bought this indoor antenna after we moved last month. Our old house had a roof mounted UHF antenna to get our locals in HD and it worked very well. This indoor antenna works even better. We get 2 more channels that we never got with the old outdoor antenna, and signal strength is better across the board.
If I had to complain about anything, it might be the build quality, but for under $20, I didn't expect more. Once you have it in place, you are not going to want to move it anyway.
Customer Review: Great HDTV Antenna Summary: 5 Stars
I now have two of these units. I purchased the first at Circuit City at a higher cost. I was very please with the performance of the first one. It brought in all the local HD stations I expected along with some that I was unaware were available. It delivers a very good picture and sound. Others have commented on the great picture that I receive.
When the need arose for another antenna I immediately went to Circuit City, but it was no longer available. Needless to say, I was thrilled to find it on Amazon, and for a smaller purchase price. I am using the second unit on a Samsung 32" LCD HDTV and the reception is stunning. If the need arises, I will purchase another one.
