Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of PELICAN PL2012 Xbox HD-Compatible Component CableCustomer Review: The BEST alternative to Monster Cables - Outstanding value Summary: 5 Stars
I used the Pelican PL2012 for over 6 months now; I use it with my Xbox & Toshiba HD TV. The picture quality is amazing. I tested the cable to work with 1080i, and all games that supported HD display will play in High Definition. The cable will work with NTSC and PAL Xboxes.I was impressed by how thick and well made the cable was. The thickness and the weight of the cable are same as the Monster Cable. This cable goes from the AV port of Xbox to 5 RCA outs (3 for RGB Component Video, and 2 For Audio) It has the same setup as the Monster Cable's Xbox 400X (1 AV in -> 5 RCA out). The cable has heavy shielding to prevent interference from end to end, and each of the connector is Gold Plated for great signal transmission. Each of the RCA outputs are enclosed in metal casing and that gives it a much better feel than the hard plastic most other comes in. I compared this cable with other third-party alternatives, and other than the Monster Cable, nothing else comes close. The other brand I compared with it were very thin, has no shielding, and weren't gold plated. They have the flimsy plastic feel and weighted about 1/3 of the Pelican cable. Their build quality simply doesn't compare. I saw some sellers selling other generic brands under this listing, and claim they have the same functionality. That is simply not true. It is like comparing a Timex with a Seiko, sure both tell time, but one offers you much more. Simply put, if I had about $60 to spend, I would get the Monster Cable version, but the Pelican a great alternative with minimal difference in signal quality.
